Minecraft currently has 3 bosses, if you count the elder guardian as one. I'm suggesting an idea for a new boss wich I think would be a fun challenge to fight: The sandworm.
To summon it, you would need to find an ancient clay vase, wich would look like this . It would spawn 5% of the time in a desert ruins chest. Once you found one, you need to place it in a desert and right click it with a water bucket to fill it.
You will feel and hear the ground trembling. Shortly after, the worm will come out of the ground and leap at the vase to eat it, he will then try to kill you.
-He has 240 hp (120 hearts).
-His regular attack deals 3.5 hearts of damage on normal.
-Sometimes, he will burrow into the ground and get back out right under you, flinging you 10 meters high and inflicting you with slowness II for 3 seconds once on ground.
-When at a 10-30 meters distance, it will sometimes try to grab you with its tongue like a fishing rod and deal 7 hearts of damage on normal if it succeeds to get you in its mouth.
-Once at 25% health, he will move 33% faster.
-Affected by Bane of Arthropods. (I know worms might not be arthropods but they're kindof insect.)
-Shooting in his mouth (between its 4 teeth) will deal automatical crit.
When beaten, the sandworm would drop a treasure enchant called "Sandstorm" wich would act like thorns on armor except it wouldn't deal damage but push enemies 5 meters away after 0.5 second of contact. The slayer(s) of this monstrous beast would also get the Haste III effect for 10 minutes.
20% of the time, the "dry tongue" would be looted. The dry tongue acts like a fishing rod except it deals 1 heart (Ignores armor.) of damage and can be thrown further.
Errr... Giant worm bosses are kind of overdone in my opinion. A giant mole or something would probably be better...
I don't know. I can't picture myself a good looking mole model. When Mojang tries to make complex mammals I think they look ugly and out of place most of the time. Look at horses and rabbits, they look more like something out of an ambient mod more than anything else. Anyways, I think a giant worm, even though might be overdone, would look more intimidating and dangerous than a mole.

You're right, I take back my previous comment. Support.

You will feel and hear the ground trembling. Shortly after, the worm will come out of the ground and leap at the vase to eat it, he will then try to kill you. Why are worms trying to eat vases? What would make more sense is if a tiny version of the Sandworm flew out of the pot, then grew to massive size.
-He has 240 hp (120 hearts).
-His regular attack deals 4.5 hearts of damage on normal. Seems kind of strong. Maybe if this was the case for hard, but unless the Worm moves really slowly, you'd probably get hit a lot, if the boss is as large as the concept image.
-Sometimes, he will burrow into the ground and get back out right under you, flinging you 10 meters high and inflicting you with slowness II for 3 seconds once on ground. Again, very powerful, and most likely 1-shoting a Player who isn't at full health. The 4.5 heart melee damage, combined with the massive fall damage... Also, is it possible to move out of the way before the Worm comes out from under you?
-When at a 10-30 meters distance, it will sometimes try to grab you with its tongue like a fishing rod and deal 9 hearts of damage on normal if it succeeds to get you in its mouth. Please tell me that there's a way to make the Worm let go of you instead of there being a "grab-timer". But if it deals 9 hearts, and not ongoing damage, then it wouldn't make much sense that it grabs you, more like trying to bite you.
-Affected by Bane of Arthropods. (I know worms might not be arthropods but they're kindof insect.) Acceptable (arthropods =/= insects, but I'll let it slide).
-Once at or under 25% health, his regular attacks will deal 6 hearts of damage on normal. Still too powerful, but hardly anything compared to the "grab" attack.
-Shooting in his mouth (between its 4 teeth) will deal automatical crit. Okay, good utilization of hitboxes (unfortunately, a few critics pointed out on a "headshots deal more damage" suggestion thread that doing stuff like this would be problematic for some reason, but I'm not sure).
-On death, explodes in a shrapnel of slimeball-like projectiles that deal poison on contact. Seems unnecessary. The Worm already put the Player though hell; it would be annoying if your streak of victory was cut short by a toxic spray.
Okay (however, it just seems like a combination of Thorns and Knockback). Also, why is the Player indirectly getting Haste?
Though the idea is reasonable in some parts, the boss is severely overpowered. A single hit can cripple the Player, even while wearing armor. And the "grab" attack would 1-shot any Player not at full health. What would be more reasonable was if the hearts of damage were nerfed to points of damage (cutting the damage dealt in half). And some of the parts of the boss battle are bizarre, including the summoning and drops of the Sandworm. Also, the boss isn't exactly original, as this boss definitely wouldn't be the first desert-dwelling Worm in external media (at least it isn't something completely unoriginal, like a Sand Golem).

This sounds like way more of a mini-boss than an actual one. And if a third boss was added, it should be something more original. The Dry Tongue item is pretty random and overpowered as it's just a pure upgrade from the fishing rod.

Yeah, that guy in the avatar is me. I'm *that* strange. It happens. Sometimes people act like that. Just go with it. I can offer help with suggestions even before you post them - NOT make your suggestions - but help you with them.
I like it, but something seems off. Maybe it could be like the elder guardian, and be a partial boss... I don't know, but something seems really off. I have no idea as to what to make it better, but you could think of one
I don't really like the dry tongue, and maybe take the damage down a little. But, out of all the work suggestions, this one isn't bad. The summoning could be a little different, maybe combine the vase with something else to make a spawning item. But this idea isn't that bad. Partial support.

Whats not clicking? Is it the theme? Its attacks or their damage? The way to summon it?

I don't think whether other games do or do not do something should be a factor.

Do you realize how ridiculously overpowered this thing is?

Overpowered in what way? The moves it has? The damage? The health?
Overpowered as in the worm is too powerful, or it is too easy, therefore overpowered for its drops/xp?

The Worm's damage is THROUGH THE ROOF, this thing is more powerful than the Wither!
I am aware of this. I reduced damage by one heart and two hearts for the tongue attack. Also, I replaced the damage at 25% health with more speed.
The super attack is still ridiculous
Wich one? The one that throws you in the air or the tongue attack? The latter only happens if you actively try to run away, and you can dodge it.
7 hearts of damage + fall is ridiculous, change it to 5 or 4
