I think creepers should die in the daylight, or when they walk near any light that isn't pitch black. Also they should dissolve in water, because it isn't fair that I can be in the water and they hurt me. And, they should die in one hit from my golden sword. Gold looks cool, and I've studied geology long enough to know that it is, in fact, the strongest metal. It's in no way malleable, and holds an edge perfectly. Clearly, it can't JUST be there to look cool. But, I'm off topic. Sorry. Creepers would be better if they died from a single arrow, and did that explosion where they hurt enemies but not the environment, like underwater. Oh, and they should make a terrible beeping noise if they're nearby, so they can't sneak up on you.

Was it opposite day when you learned that about gold?

Gold metal is dense, soft, shiny and the most malleable and ductile pure metal known.

That was sarcasm, sir. I would've thought the part where I said creepers should dissolve would've marked that whole paragraph as such.

What's the biggest shame is that there are a few good ideas floating around on this thread that have been lost to trolling and spam xD
I still kinda like the idea where creepers fall asleep during the day but if you get too close they wake up and act normal but only on easy mode xD It gives peeps who prefer it on easy a better chance against them and leaves the rest of the peeps who prefer normal/hard etc an actual challenge during the otherwise cake-eating-walk-in-the-park that it would be.

Oh, sorry. I read your post kind of fast, and didn't spend enough time processing the tone of it.
On topic: Creepers aren't that dangerous if you run as soon as you hear the hiss, but it's really annoying when they explode your stuff or the terrain. They're like a greifer mob.

I believe I have a few ideas. One idea I have is that if you look directly at them, then they will stop cold and stare back at you. This would add to their "Creeper" name. Now, if this is too much, then this only happens during the day, or in light, because they can't see your face well enough in the dark. Another idea to add to this is that if they take damage while they're making the hissing noise, their explosion timer restarts. This makes them a bit easier, yeah, but that's the beauty of it. They're Creepers. They get the most out of their abilities by catching you by surprise. Therefore, if you see them coming, they should loose any advantage they have. This would also help compensate people in SMP servers with the lag and all.

I'm in favor of having options available to fine-tune the monsters, if desired. I also wouldn't be bothered if creepers got nerfed a little.
That said, I don't have too many problems with creepers. On singleplayer, I don't have lag issues, so a sword and space behind me to back up while fighting is enough, provided I only have to deal with one creeper. On my friends multiplayer server, a couple of people built monster-killing boxes that spits out monster goodies, so I have no shortage of materials for bows and arrows. So, I just spam-right-click and perforate creepers.
In either case, while my initial shelter has to be one-block thick dirt (because that's all I have time for before the zombies show up), I eventually upgrade it to two-blocks thick cobblestone. A single creeper blast can't blow open a hole in a two-block thick cobblestone wall.
I also light up the landscape around my shelter with torches, and put flying cobblestone blocks over the tree trunks and put torches on them. (Trunks taller than 8 blocks get chopped. Branches get chopped.) Land borders get a zig-zag cactus line (importing sand, if necessary). That, or a 4-block-high wall with an overhang to stop spiders.
If I have a crowd of monsters outside my walls, I can dig a small 1x1 hole between glass windows and start poking things through the hole.

Creepers are suppose to sneak up on you. What do you think creeper means? It means it's an enemy that's sneaky and you never notice them until...
I, personally, do not want to nerf the Creepers for the sake of other people liking it, but I dont really like it either. When I am going out of my base, I am such a coward that I cant go out of my house without putting the diffucuilty on Peaceful and then Easy super fast to not regain health. But I still want to get a bow so I can feel sake, Creepers prevent this. Something kind of off topic is that some scary music gives me no chills, same with horror games, but this Sandbox game named Minecraft gives me chills almost everytime I meet an enemy. I think this is the Creepers fault. My solution is to make to make Creepers slower and less damaging in sunlight at Easy. This gives the Creeper haters time to relax on day, while Creeper hunters can still fight them as easy.
1 seems like a compared to what hapenned to me a few seconds ago...I got out of my house (little cave dug in a dirt hill, I just started a new world) and it seems that 4 spiders and 3 creepers spawned on it. Of course, I accidentally attacked the spiders so they turned on me and when I killed them the :SSSS:s went BOOM!
GAME OVER.
i do the very same tho for some reason i always hum the matrix theme?
If it aint worth fixing dont fix it.

Creepers already do this. Well for me.
