This will decrease cases of afk-ing, ensuring players are always on their toes. It will remove safe places from servers, just like real life.

This is the most ridiculous thing, though. Alright, tell you what. I'm going to guess you don't fully understand servers or how they work. So here's how this goes:
Servers do not have safe zones by default. There is either PvP everywhere or PvP nowhere.
Servers which do have safe zones have safe zones implemented by the owner.
If any server has any kind of no-PvP area, whether that be the whole world or just one section, its because the owner wanted it that way.
So tell me, why on Earth would any server want there to be a way to kill people in safe zones that the owner put there!? It makes no sense! The owner decided that they wanted there to be a zone where people can't be hurt. But no. Machinasa knows way better than them, and he thinks that safe zones should be impossible, and his new item to allow that cannot be overridden at all in any way.
Still not convinced this isn't a joke. It's simply ridiculous and will never happen. Also, a shank can do the damage of an iron-diamond sword, but faster? Neato.

Ummm why and how? It really isn't that difficult or time consuming to turn logs into planks so what is the point of this?
This simply doesn't work. If PvP is turned off then shanks won't do anything. If there are certain zones where PvP is off then that still wouldn't make a difference. Server owners make areas where PvP is off specifically so that players cannot be harmed while in those areas.
Despite the fact that I myself don't have much an issue with blood (provided it's not to a huge extent that makes the game uncomfortable to play) this simply would not happen. Blood is one of the things that will probably never be added to Minecraft and for good reason.

Yeah the shank might be a decent idea but it needs work. I like that it's the fastest weapon available (but will most likely be fairly weak as a balance) but other than that I see no reason to add this. Using them in areas where PvP is disabled not only won't work but defeats the entire purpose of having PvP free zones. Turning logs into planks automatically is pointless and the blood simply doesn't need to be there. So yeah it's an okay idea but it just doesn't have enough going for it to make me want to see it implemented into the game. Sorry but no support.
I see that you have been roasted already on the pvp in no pvp zones so I will skip that but still say it is terrible, if it did 1-2 hearts of damage and you could swing it really fast (but still forget pvp in no pvp) I would be completely fine with this idea so no support until reviewed but after possible support.

But for the idea itself, I can see the texture probably came from TerraFirmaCraft, but I think the shank could be a good idea. I think that the fast hitting aspect could be beneficial, but all the other points on the list are just awful. Some are useless, some don't make sense, some are just plain silly.
