She does seem to be of the opinion that the forum has lost greatness.
I can't say I've seen any change, but I suppose I'm not an old-school forum member.
You haven't noticed the increase of troll accounts being made to spam joke threads? In about 2013 there seemed to be a higher number of decent critics. Now it all just seems like a hot wasteland. After removing the vague threads rule it went downhill soon after.

Yeah, that guy in the avatar is me. I'm *that* strange. It happens. Sometimes people act like that. Just go with it. I can offer help with suggestions even before you post them - NOT make your suggestions - but help you with them.

Nope. Been on Suggestions hiatus.

Wasn't anywhere near active enough at the time.

This I was around for, and I don't believe the vague thread rule was helping. But that's a discussion for another thread (numerous other threads, in fact, many of which I think we've probably already had this conversion in).

Removing the rule is what wasn't helping. I remember days after the rule was canned, someone made a thread going "we need more cats [new line] nuff sed". Guess who made the thread? A new joke account. Guess what was done about the thread? Aaaaabsolutely nothing, because the guy who made that thread knew he could get away with it.
It would've been better to tweak the rule instead of removing it altogether. There's too many vague threads where the OP never comes back to fix them.

Then let them be buried. No need to bump them if they're obvious trolls.

Okay, can you convince an entire forum to do this?
Is that a challenge? Accepted.
I can convince enough. Let's start with everyone reading this post. Journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step, be the change you want to see, all of that.
You are not the first person to attempt this. Ignoring a troll is nice, it's even better when he's banned so he stops no matter what.

I don't think we're in a place to demand further action from the mods if we aren't at least willing to do our own part to deal with the issue.
The problem with the complaints over the change is that it seems like you're all talking with no action. I'd bet that a lot of the people who are complaining about this change are in fact the ones feeding the trolls in the first place. At that point it becomes an issue of your own making, and thus an issue you should deal with yourself.

What action should we be taking apart from just ignoring? The ones feeding the trolls are the gullible people who don't seem to understand what actual trolling looks like.

I'd warrant that as a very dangerous call to arms. The best we can do is as we have done. Ignore->Report->Back. Minimodding is a very real thing and can cause more problems than it solves. This is a situation where vigilante modding just won't work.
I got a very interesting email. It has come to my attention that the man who contributed the most to my guide has been banned for 30 days. He also said the following:
"I got what I had coming, that's what I get for being bitter. Gotta learn to be nicer. See all you critics in December. I will be back and a better person, I totes mean it this time! I'm still able to read posts, but not make them. I'll be watching all of you."

Wait, what?
Why would someone get a 1-month ban for contributing the most to your guide? How is it even against the rules?

I'm not saying we should moderate them, I'm saying - as I said before - we should just let the vague suggestions be buried. That's how we deal with them, instead of constantly bumping them by replying "Vague, more detail please" when the posts are obviously trolls, and instead of complaining about the vague rule being removed.
I was wondering: Are you allowed to make a video of your suggestion explaining the whole thing, and then editing the topic after discussing new ideas about it?

There's always gonna be some newbie (who'll also skip this guide) who bumps the troll threads because he's not wise enough to know what real trolling looks like. Sadly this is like a third of all threads here now.

If you absolutely need the video to show us something, then sure maybe. Though it's annoying when youtube throws a tantrum and videos don't load.

I'd be too overzealous, the second I see "budder!!" you get permabanned.
