The idea is interesting, although I would prefer it to be something you can only walk through while under a potion effect or something like that. This would be too overpowered because you could make suffocation traps out of essentially anything.

Yeah I think it should be controlled by the player, not the environment. I.E. potion effects, not redstone power

Being able to make suffocation traps out of almost anything?
For the hefty price of 5 ender pearls, 4 purpur blocks, and the block you want to use? Per block?
I don't know, you would have to actually move inside the block to get trapped, with the full knowledge that it may be a trap...
I don't see how it's overpowered, am I missing something?

Exactly. I personally give partial support. The main reason is this seems better for multiplayer, not singleplayer. I have less expensive piston traps that work just fine on mobs, and I barely do Multiplayer. I would maybe use this for teleporting, but I don't know, just getting Ender Pearls would be easier.
The status effect part of the idea is kinda weird and strange. But the recipe part combats the op parts of this idea. Id rather not have to use a potion.

Don't pistons let you do that already?
I actually suggested a block like this in my "wraith wasp" suggestion 2 months ago. I like the idea of a toggle-able block, because it would open up many possibilities for puzzles in adventure maps. I will admit that this could probably be accomplished with command blocks, but an in game block would be simpler, and allow us to build fancy contraptions in survival.
Support, just to make it a little less OP I suggest you make it so you need to throw an enderpearl AT the wall to go through it, and make it look exactly like PurPur so some people don't know right away it's a Ender Wall.
The idea may look that way but try to think of all the things it could be used for. What if you were to use it for something, what would you use it for?
I have to admit, even though this would make creating suffocation traps super easy, the price probably balances it out. And it's not like you can't make suffocation traps with pistons, too.

You are right.Even though some people are saying its op it truly not. Infact If this was in the next snapshot I could see a lot of positive feedback from this being added.

If your a mod maker PLZ consider these mod ideas here! LINK
The ender wall is basically a special block that if powered with redstone will allow you to walk through it.
Description of block:
-looks like purpur
-is crafted with 5 ender perls and 4 purpur blocks, you get 4 per craft
What it can/could be used for:
-traps
-maps
-secret walls
-mob farms
-advanced redstone mechanisms
Extra Features:
-You can suffocate things with the block
-if you combine it with a block in a crafting table it will look like that block
-they chain together, one power source can power 20 ender wall blocks together
Here's a video showing what the blocks main feature is:

Maybe something like a potion called Ender walking potion?

It's interesting but a bit OP
I suppose, and it could be brewed with some new item in the end? (Sorry, I'm not up to date with 1.9 )

Nope. Especially with the great response of making it based on status effects rather than redstone power.

.
Sounds like an interesting mechanic but could it have both?

Possibly, I support the Idea either way.
The idea may look that way but try to think of all the things it could be used for. What if you were to use it for something, what would you use it for?
Edit:
Also tell me how it would get exploited easily?

I, as a bigtime adventure map player, would love to see this used in new maps.
