I think almost every minecrafter knows about the rare mushroom biome, filled with mooshrooms and giant mushrooms. That, and a few threads, inspired me to come up with this idea! New, very rare, island biomes with unique items and mobs, like mycelium and mooshrooms.
Giant Tree:
A huge tree, 30-80 blocks tall and leaves spread out 90-200 blocks in diameter. It has a small island under it, with roots going through the caves underneath. Cocoa beans will grow on the giant tree, and glistering melons will as well. Glistering melon plants will flash from green to yellow, and will emit particles. They look similar to the cocoa bean plants. In this biome, jungle trees will also glow glistering melon plants. The plants are rare, spawning 1/10th as often as cocoa bean plants. On the tree, there are treehouses in, and hanging from the branches, connected by wooden bridges. These contain diamonds, emeralds, and lots of other rare materials, as well as lots of jungle wood. Villagers live there, and trade items for a much lower price than normal. Note that this will be very rare, so there won't be giant trees where ever you walk. Inside of the tree, you can find birds, which go to nests and lay eggs, which eventually hatch into more birds. They drop feathers, and have four health and bat AI. They are common, and nests are found inside small holes in the tree.
Volcano:
A volcano, 80-180 blocks tall (very big). It will be made out of stone, cobblestone, obsidian, and gravel. Near and at the volcano, there will be volcanic ash, which can be mined and turned into a volcanic ash item (like clay or glowstone dust), which can be fed to plants like bone meal. In the center of the volcano, there is lava, and going through the lava will take you through a cave system, until you find the central chamber, which is a lava pit. In the lava pit you will find monsters called flame spirits, which look like players with a lava texture all over them. When you hit them, chunks of lava will appear to fall of, and you will have a chance to be set on fire for 2-4 seconds. They will start to look like a red skeleton when pieces fall off. They will drop buckets of lava, and rarely any type of sword with fire aspect (they can spawn with held items). Next part is optional: Rarely, a volcano can erupt, causing lava to rain down in a 300 block radius. Ash will also rain down more commonly, and will group into large ash plains.
Giant Shipwreck:
More like a structure than a biome (but still a biome of its own). Appears at different angles in the ocean. Filled with loot chests. It has multiple rooms with beds, bookshelves, furnaces, and many more types of blocks. Occasionally you will find pirates, which are versions of villagers which sell pirate-themed items for gold instead of emeralds. Pirate ghosts will also spawn, which look like the villagers, but white and transparent. They will drop gold nuggets.
Paradise:
A sandy island made out of sand, and full of palm trees. Breaking the leaves has a chance to give you bananas. Around these islands you will find fish mobs, which will drop fish, clownfish, salmon, and pufferfish, depending on the type of fish. The islands also can come in special shapes like rings, stars, and other things. Coconuts would also spawn on the trees, and would have coconut water inside, which heals 3 chicken leg thingies, and gives regeneration 1 for 4 seconds. Coconuts can also fall on you, and do as much damage as an anvil (Fun Fact: More people die from coconuts than from sharks each year).
I think this will make the exploration of minecraft a lot more fun, and interesting!
I Support the Giant tree and paradise They are awesome, But the volcano should have a soft eruption. The lave starts out 30blocks down but every day a new layer of lava is added until it erupts. after the eruption the 30 layers disappear and the cycle starts again.
That would mean that ther are logs all over. You are never gonna cut that tree down

... Uh... OH NO THE TREE IS TOO MAJESTIC MY ISLAND PARADISE IS RUINED!!!!!
Seriously though, this suggestion is very in depth and goes very far. A little too far. When one suggestion is so complex and has so much just in the one part it adds to the game, it means it won't really fit. It's not a bad suggestion, it's just better for a mod of some kind. Because think about it, if there's SO much content in just one biome, the rest of the game seems pretty lacking now, doesn't it?

SUPPORT IF STATEMENTS IN MINECRAFT!!
I like this idea, but I think coconuts would be cool and the they shouldn't be to rare.
even without those:
SUPPORT
EDIT: just to be clear I meant the islands shouldn't be to rare, I wasn't talking about the coconuts.
I'm almost completely inactive, in case you're trawling through really old threads and notice me somewhere.
Coconuts would be a good addition, thanks for the idea :D.
SUPPORT IF STATEMENTS IN MINECRAFT!!
Hmmm.. Would these islands have any use? Or just look cool?
I've been playing since May 2011,when PC was at Beta 1.6. Started on PE: 0.3.0, XBOX 360: TU4, PC: 1.4.7, and Windows 10: 0.12.
They would contain loot and mobs that drop useful items. And also they would look cool.
SUPPORT IF STATEMENTS IN MINECRAFT!!
wow you dislike 1 little part and you say no support, why do you have to cut it down anyway.

Just burn it down like a smart person.
