I'm sure people have thought of this already, but I would LOVE to see this mechanic added into Minecraft! Imagine, all of the previous things you could do with redstone, and now with more possibilities. This might need some new game mechanics, but it would introduce options to make smoother looking designs, more compact creations, advanced movement, and so much more. If you could do this you could even have redstone wiring as a part of the ceiling to your creation, say for an elevator, which would look really cool, and allows for less space needed to create what you want.
I would like there to be an option to place redstone up walls simply by rightclicking on the side of a block, and to be able to break blocks underneath the redstone blocks
NOTE: I will be updating this post with more ideas and things that you could do, and hopefully anyone seeing this will support me and give me more ideas
ALSO: If you would like, I am thinking of making a map using some 1.9 mechanics and whatever I can use, so if you are good with redstone/command blocks and would like to help I would HIGHLY appreciate it. I am looking to do some Dragnoz type creations if you know him, so please have at least a minimum understanding of redstone and game mechanics if you would like to help, I also need builders as well to make beautiful creations (I think I'm a pretty good builder myself so that would be cool to work with someone else and get new ideas and inspiration)
This belongs in the Suggestions section, and "Minecraft" doesn't have a capital "C". Plus, this is kind of vague, as the suggestion is more in the title then in the actual post.
yes thank you, there isn't much to it, it is in the suggestion section isn't it? Also the Minecraft with a capital C, sorry I was kinda just rushing so I wasn't thinking about capitalization, just tried to make it look semi professional (although it isn't at all professional) in a short amount of time.
There are easy ways you can do vertical redstone, so making it able to stick to walls would make something that's easy, easier. So, making it stick to walls isn't really needed. Having it float in air, I don't see the purpose in it. These would also remove part of the challenge you have when working with redstone.

This would make ALL redstone contraptions redundant.

can you please expand?

Very vague. placing blocks on air? explain a bit more.
"Hermits United. We meet up every ten years and swap stories about caves. its good fun for a hermit."
"Wibbly-Wobbly timey-wimey... stuff"
"Allons-y!"
"Don't blink. blink and you're dead. don't turn your back. don't look away. and don't blink. good luck."
Redstone is a powder, powder does not stick to stuff. Placing blocks on air? Physics.
how? also if you look on somewhere you'll see that this was considered in the way of gears, but then decided against.
I'm almost completely inactive, in case you're trawling through really old threads and notice me somewhere.
They would become redundant because there would be a new way to make the contraptions.

An alternative to redstone, SPECIFICALLY for placing on walls, would be a really good idea. Would definitely make Redstone work easier as well!
I Support!
Love to game, all day everyday!
Use the search bar. And by the way having a Redstone wire in the air would be a good thing, as long as it doesn't have any problems. So I support
