Simple suggestion: I think mushroom stew should be stackable. Because it seems like there is no reason for it to not be stackable. Yes it restores a lot of health and if you have mooshrooms, they are an infinite source of food, but the same goes for a chicken grinder. The grinder produces unlimited amounts of cooked chicken, which provides good health points (and is stackable)
Personally I also think the mushrooms should be sheared off of Mooshrooms like sheep, and have them take a few minutes to grow back, so you couldn't just keep clicking them with a bowl. That just seems a little OP.
They made mushroom stew unstackable for a reason. All you need is a mooshroom, and you have instant and infinite amounts of one of the best food items in the entire game, granted you have bowls.

Where I agree they shouldn't be stacked, may I point out the chicken machine? All it takes it just 1 chicken to start. Sure, you need to visit the nether just long enough to get the nether crystal for it ( the design I gave my buddy anyway), but after you have the machine built, it's unlimited cooked chicken in stacks of 64 til either the machine is destroyed, or you start a new map. It provides a double chest full every two days easy. Plus, it has it's penalty if you indeed start with only one chicken. The eggs you need take time.
I'm just saying, where as you have to plant, harvest, build bowls, double your space (cause when you eat soup, the bowl takes up a separate spot) take the time to make the machine (takes really no time at all) get it set up, and have a decent food source with unlimited potential.
Because of the example I laid, is why it's not needed. I would suggest to even it out and make it a 16 stack, but then it's almost still pointless.
I'm thinking more broad by applying this to servers with plugins. In server PvP, this would be RIDICULOUSLY overpowered, since one stew restores about 3 hearts in a quarter of a second. Being able to fit your sword, bow, and 7 stews is good enough; turning that number into 112 or 448 is just crazy.
This has been discussed in the suggestions area multiple times. While it makes somewhat sense, it would definitely be too overpowered. Sorry, but I don't support this.
Stackable mushroom stew has been discussed and are generally hated suggestions. With how Mooshrooms can provide an infinite source of Mushroom Stew, and provide a good amount of hunger and saturation points, it would be considered OP.
I think mushroom stew should be stackable, but in such a case, I'd like to see mooshrooms not give you an infinite amount of it. I'd rather have a brown mooshroom variant, and let mooshrooms grow back their mushrooms when sheared rather than milk them, possibly having them regrow in around 10 minutes after eating mycelium? It'd remove one half of the things making mooshrooms overpowered at the very least, which is the infinite on-demand food source.
Like others have said though, if you don't alter the method of gaining food from mooshrooms, making the stew stackable would create too big of a rift between players with and players without a mooshroom.
Still though, with a huge Mooshroom breeding farm you'll have hundreds of mushroom stew in a couple days, which doesn't help the suggestion much. Sorry.
Even with the mooshroom overpowering, there's an even simpler reason that stackable stew won't happen, the same reason stackable potions won't happen. They have a return item, the wooden bowl. When you eat mushroom stew, the stew is consumed, and you are given a wooden bowl in the same inventory slot. If there is something in that slot (because there was a stack of stew), the game can't give you a wooden bowl back. Exactly the same principle applies to potions & glass bottles.
Before you say "well why doesn't the game put it somewhere else?", it would be unfeasable. The game just doesn't look for open inventory slots when returning items. If it's not able to put it in the same slot as the food came from, it won't give you a bowl at all.
Source: I'm a modder that has used return item in developing mods before, it doesn't work if there's still an item in the slot.

Well, you have a good point. I never thought about this.

You are incorrect, when it comes to potions. I used /replaceitem to replace a slot in my hotbar with 8 potions of speed, and when I drank one the bottle went into a different spot in my inventory. However it doesn't work with mstew.

I actually agree, since gameplay > realism. The suggestion is a bit vague but its a simple one so I Support.

I post pretty rarely nowadays. Gosh, I wish this place weren't so... empty...

SURPRISE!!!!
Oh great, now I have to get a new computer.
Wow! This really opened my eyes. I had thought about stacking soup too, never realized howOP it would actually be.
I play SPS so all I wanted was more room for loot.

Yes, you can get unlimited food from a chicken farm, but you have to build it. You don't need to build a Mooshroom.

not your fault the soup is so crazy op in the first place. if the stats were lowered, a stack of 16 soups would be nice
support, but mojang should change the soup, too

You're idea is kinda vague.
All food should stack, regardless of strength.
Just limit the stack size.
