What I want is that skins should be able to have holes in them. Or, see-through, if you will. I was making a skin, and It didn't work. With the skin I was creating, That was a crucial part. It's kinda dumb you have to fill in everything a skin.
No, skins do not support transparency on the main layer since it's very abusable.
Even if you can see the nametag, you are much more likely to see a person's skin rather than their nametag.
If you find it necessary to have a transparent main layer, then you should consider installing a mod to change this instead.
Mojang, although not responsible for the actions done by players, wouldn't implement something like this, as they have deemed it abusable in the past, and that won't change ever. I guess you could say I don't support this, if you didn't get it by now.

Agreed, also, players can hide their name tags if they shifted as well.
This could work as long as clients could have a setting to ignore the transparency values. Support, if toggleable
That would look awkward and ugly though, which completely ruins the point of a skin since you would be the only one who would get the full visual experience. Do remember that transparent pixels are converted to black pixels otherwise.
Although it is a nice idea from the immediate thought, problems start to arise. As in, someone can just make a completely invisible skin and just destroy everyone by cheating in Factions, KitPvP, Hunger Games, etc. Although one can see a nametag, they are hard to see, especially if the person is sneaking, which would make them literally invisible. Although it would be cool, there is just too many downsides to this.
No Support.

That wouldn't work for PvP servers, people making skins either completely or semi invisible.

One word: Nametags. The player nametag is all the guidance you need as well as any armor they're wearing.
Support. It could be pretty cool.
This would be awesome! Support

Everyone else is right, this would be abused. It's just something that can never be added without breaking the game in some way.

I would like this for transparent or invisible goggle lenses on my skin. Support!
