As most suggestions for spears appear to be a slightly less powerful sword that can be thrown, I'd like to see if I can come up with something different.
The materal in slot 4 may also be put in slot 6.
The spear is a pure melee weapon. While with nearly every other item, you can only hit something about 3-4 blocks away, with a spear you can hit something 5-6 blocks away (it has a greater reach due to its length). However, it has an attack speed of 1.06, only doing full damage every 0.9 seconds (compared to the sword's 0.6 seconds). A spear has no knockback to speak of. While it does the same amount of damage as a sword, it will ignore 10% of armor reduction on an opponent (approximately ). This effect does not affect shields whatsoever. It shares all enchantments with swords except Knockback.
The current durability for items is this:
Gold - 33 uses
Wood - 60 uses
Stone - 132 uses
Iron - 251 uses
Diamond - 1562 uses
The iron in the crafting recipe may be replaced by any of these materials.
Usage/Playstyle (copied from discussion):
With a sword, you charge forwards. With a spear, it's wiser to run backwards, since there's no knockback and you may hit the opponent without being hit yourself. The point is to have people use a different, more cautious playstyle within the current way of fighting, one that depends more on positioning and dodging than brute force. Rather than attack-attack-attack, you have to use an entirely different strategy because even if you hit a mob with it the mob will just keep coming. A zombie swarm, for instance, would not be a good time to use a spear, especially in a tight space.
This spear has some good functions to keep, regarding how it may slow down a player's speed to hit with it. But what I'm aware of is that it's similar to a sword, yet would ignore 10% armour reduction on an opponent. But this does have more possibility than other overly suggested spears, because this has a very different function and limits a few things to differentiate it to a sword.

Partial Support.
So the good things are different functions and slower speed, and the bad things are that it's too similar to a sword? Is that why only partial support?
After reviewing the thread further and discussing it with the OP, I have decided to unlock this thread. It has several features that were not in the other thread I linked.

I don't think that the "3-4 blocks away, with a spear you can hit something 5-6 blocks away (it has a greater reach due to its length)" think is true. But I may be wrong.
Try to make the spear go a bit farther, like at most 7-9 blocks. (however this may be op).

But other than that, full support.
I checked the wiki. It said something like reach is 3.75 blocks. I'm not absolutely certain it's true, but it sounds right. Either way, 2 extra blocks of reach. The reason for this is that with a sword, you charge forwards. With a spear (at least this version), it's wiser to run backwards, since there's no knockback and you may hit the opponent without being hit yourself. The point isn't to impale someone extremely far away (9 blocks is an insane distance and would be OP given the damage). It's to have people use a different, more cautious playstyle within the current way of fighting, one that depends more on positioning and dodging than brute clickspam/knockback force.
It's perfectly balanced and has some unique attributes, but it's not exactly a "new-to-the-market" weapon for the game. Not sure if I'd give it the time and energy to add it if I was Mojang, but if it was added I'd probably consider using this anyway. I can also say this is the best spear thread I've seen so far.
So, I'd say 85% support.

Its a good idea and im 60% sure it will be added but the spear attack speed should be slow and should be thrown only 4-7 blocks far but other than that

Technically yes. It's similar stats almost mirrors it to a Sword, which can be a problem. If this was the case, Mojang would end up coding a weapon that is already the strength of another weapon. But then it's tweaked to a moderate change to differentiate it from a Sword or Spear.

The main thing that separates it from a sword, I think, is the change in strategy. Rather than attack-attack-attack, you have to use an entirely different strategy because even if you hit a mob with it the mob will just keep coming. A zombie swarm, for instance, would not be a good time to use a spear, especially in a tight space.
Basically, it uses the same simple game mechanics as a sword but adjusts them to create a new effect. I don't think that makes it too similar to a sword.
By far, this is the best presented and most unique spear suggestion I've seen. The reason: most users who suggest spears are people who just joined and think that they don't need to read the pinned posts. This ends up with spears getting a really bad reputation.
On the subject of your spears, their attributes are very interesting. It suits a fighting style different than any combat tool currently available in the game, so a different group of people may enjoy using this. Overall, it requires more skill than a sword to wield, since you need to cope with the many disadvantages, but is more rewarding if you know how to use it.
Support; adds a bit of a different fighting style than the generic "click to win" sword.
Support! Much better than the usual spear suggestions. The only thing i would change about it is the crafting recipe to three diamonds/iron/gold/stone/wood instead of just two.
No. Just no. I really don't think that this should be added, the problem is that there really aren't any uses for this besides killing mobs. If you can come up with more uses then maybe I'll think about it.

It takes you 6 seconds to read all of this, 0.3 seconds to look at the egg, 0.2 seconds to click it, 3 seconds to read it's description, 1 second to exit out the page, and 10 seconds to forget it ever happened. :3
I like it, this is one of the first good spear threads I've ever seen, however, I was a bit surprised how you considered it as a melee weapon rather than a ranged weapon.

Frankly I was just tired with the "let's make a weapon halfway between a sword and bow!" nonsense. Thanks for the support.

I don't want it to be more expensive than the current melee weapon. They're meant to be equals with different strategic uses.

I don't know the attack range is too long make it like it has 30% percent of missing the enemy.
That would make it severely underpowered given the lack of knockback and the increased swing time.
