Note: This is not completed, and will be completed over the next week or so.
SO.
You came here for one of three reasons:
1. "Woh! CulinaryCraft! That sounds cool! "
2. "Lawl, this is stupid im gonna troll. "
3. "Eh, whatever, I'll read it. "
If you're #1, then good for you! If you're #2, GTFO. Thanks :biggrin.gif:
Well, this is something that I had when watching Food Network (of course): we have no real food! I mean sure, we have and the stereotypical mushroom soup, and that's it. I'm sure that I'm not the only one, but that is pathetic. Come on, PAPER MARIO HAD MORE RECIPES (Even though some of those recipes were for weapons and stuff).
There are a couple of items I've thought of for this, but ideas for more are accepted :biggrin.gif:
ITEMS
1. Flour
2. Bottle
3. Wine/Beer Barrel
4. Hops
5. Barley
6. Rice
7. Different types of Fish (will probably be integrated into the game by Notch)
8. Sushi
9. Tea
(...)
From the list above, CulinaryCraft would actually combine more food with beverages (they do go hand in hand, right?) These beverages aren't Coca-Cola or anything, but you have wine, BEER, tea, and probably many more in the future.
Let's Talk About BLOCKS
As many cooks and chefs know, there is a large variety of tools needed to make that perfect pie or that perfect latte. This section will solely talk about the blocks that can make this magic happen.
Oven
Pretty straight forward, it's basically a furnace, but cooks food faster (twice as fast?) compared to the furnace. to keep code smaller, it could be made like this:
Where the stick is a smoke-stack or something similar. Another idea would be something similar to a pressure plate on top of a furnace (made of iron or another material). Actually, let's take that more in-depth.
Ovens, based on the "pressure plate" shape, changes how fast it cooks, and could deteriorate over time like tools.
Crafting Shape?

Grill
Again, straight forward. It is designed for cooking meat, any type, and gives more health per piece. Wouldn't that be amazing? Instead of just (cooked meat) you can have grilled meat, which feeds 5 hearts or so and (if stamina/hunger is ever implemented) gives 2.5 whatever. Needs more development.
Legit Counters
Completely aesthetic. But really, who DOESN'T want granite counter tops? XD
Kettle
A simple kettle, which allows for the brewing of tea or another drink, and could help refill your stamina and thirst (if that is ever implemented...). Of course, it would look like a pixelated kettle.
Let's talk about the better side of this idea... THE FOOD!
Flour. Fresh, harvested wheat shouldn't go straight into bread like it does, that just insane ("but it's minecraft!" meh). To make this more popular, instead of having a massive grinding stone to pound 64 wheat, you could just use any old smooth or cobblestone block at a rate of (maximum) 8 wheat a whack.
Bottles. How can you possibly store drinkable liquids (like the ones that follow) without them GOING BAD? Easy; you store them in bottles. "But deblack, why would we ever need to store drinks? I'd just drink my _____ now!"
Well, do you always eat cooked porkchops on the spot? No, you probably have a couple of chests storing it.
perhaps if there will be an emphasis on food making... then maybe you should add a refrigerator to this idea. food items placed in regular storage should rot after a certain amount of days (relative to each food item)
idk how it would be built.
and maybe a kitchen knife should be added.

This isn't a completed idea, if you read my note at the top it says that It'll be done within a week or so.

i know. im just adding my own suggestions that you may or may not have considered.
hm...
<--- cups of milk
<--- sugar, apple, sugar
apple pie maybe?
EDIT: can you make a sig bar thingy? the kind that links? i really like this idea so i'd like to spread it around.
We should have fries and burgers so we can make mcdonalds in Minecraft! :biggrin.gif:
Seriously now :tongue.gif:: How about..well we have mushroom soup..so what about chicken soup? and cookable chicken? so chickens have a chance of dropping feathers OR their..um..body xD. I dunno i'm not that creative :tongue.gif:.
lol, all this time playing minecraft and it NEVER once occured to me that i should be able to eat the chickens. i want beef from cows, and i want edible squids and sheep now too.
you had me at the paper mario reference, too bad im a #2
serious now, i would love the idea of more complex foods, but they would need to be different than the food we have now, for example since you already used paper mario as a reference, in that game you could cook special hallucinogenic mushrooms with different effects such as:
not to say that this should be implemented because thats overpowering, but that different food types should give your character different abilities that wore off after lets say.....a day, not really sure what though.

-Chicken. Seriously, chickens should drop chicken meat! It tastes like everything.
-Spices. Redstone dust is popular this season.
-Boiled seeds. A cheap, barely healing food!
HEY! That was my idea! :sad.gif:
AND EVIL.

I was thinking that maybe we could have pumpkin pie, crafted (and maybe then cooked)like:
where is a pumpkin and is sugar.
Or something like that.
