for all ores, when you make a 3x3 recipe with the ore, it creates a block... what about redstone???? how awesome would a red, shiny block be??? and maybe coal would be pretty cool too...

Glad to see you thought this completely unnecessary block through and actually gave a point to it.

Oh wait, you didn't....
Now, now, no need to be rude. There's two things being addressed here;
1) Use for redstone for people who aren't circuit junkies (and a compliment to lapis lazuli)
2) Possible use as a redstone-controlled light source.
I think it'd work fine, although architectural considerations might need to be made to use it nicely, such as putting paintings over it or using recessed lighting. Either way, it wouldn't be a bad idea.
It would just add more complications to the game to have a light that needs electricity. Listen, a torch is only one light level away from the highest light level, so it couldn't be brighter. Also, if you want a red block, use dyes. I do not approve.

I had this idea myself. Not only would translucent red blocks that glow be really neat looking, but it would also help greatly with storage. I have a double chest nearly full of redstone dust.
Can we have one for coal aswell? PLEASE TELL ME WE CAN HAVE A COAL ONE!
Seriously, in just 5 hours of playing I filled large chest with coal. Lets face it, theres coal everywhere you look.
Excuse my ranting, im just tired of the massive piles of chests full of coal. Same goes with redstone.
With the coal, you should overstock on torches before the lantern update...(all existing torches will magically transform into lanterns on the update day, supposedly).

A redstone-controlled light source is a good idea.
That no-brain piggies thing explains a lot.
1-Explains why they are so morrons
2-Explains why they come to us when we kill them
3-Explains where do zombie pigmen come from
4-Doesn't explain why this guy has sig'd me

I myself have already made a post about this. The redstone block could have half the light a torch would have (14/2=7)

Totally agree
So it gives the redstone torch light or... I know nothing about redstone so could you explain? Please.
