This is a block made simply for compact storage and decoration. It has a blast resistance of 30, and is crafted with 9 charcoal. I don't even need to show you the crafting recipe, because I'm pretty sure we all know what the crafting recipe of an item that consists of 9 of a single item looks like. Much like coal blocks you can use it to smelt up to 81 items. Also, this is what the Block of Charcoal looks like:
Minecraft is not medieval-themed!!! As a matter of fact, it doesn't have a set time. And when and WHY did putting reponses in the quote, especially long ones, become a trend in the Suggestions? It's rather inconvenient, mainly since the OP has to gather your quote up manually. Avatar made by Endergirl!
The coal block is an actual useful storage block. Coals is abundant, and you always want to keep a lot of it in case you need to craft torches or cook/smelt item.
Charcoal on teh other hand is an item you'll only get when you cook it yourself, meaning that the amount of charcoal in a Players' storage is always in control of the Player. I don't think an item like that needs a storage block. No support.
The amount of coal in storage can be controlled as well, by throwing coal into lava, or simply not mining the coal at all. So it's just about as controllable as charcoal.

I wouldn't jump through the roof if this was implemented, but I wouldn't mind this being added. My only problem is you were lazy and used the April Fools version coal block texture. Charcoal just doesn't look like that.

Alright, I'll try. It was late at night, and I couldn't think of a better way to represent the charcoal block. EDIT: Done. Replaced that with mine.

Odd... probably a typo, or slight misunderstanding. The wiki also forgot to add to the crafting table that, as of 1.0, the crafting table can be mined with an axe faster, but I fixed that a few months ago. I also smelt up to 81 items with coal blocks inside my hopper-furnace systems, so that's how I know.

-Pixel Format Not Accelerated Problems in Windows 10 Reasons-
1.Old Intel CPU (2nd Gen and older) and these aren't ready for Windows 10.Please downgrade to an older version
2-Slow/Intel GPU (But sometimes Intel GPU just work fine from 3rd Gen CPU or newer on Win10)
3-Update Drivers (recommended for Dedicated GPU but not always for Intel's)
[This signature isn't to critisice Intel/Microsft or any thing of this sort, I am criticising You and You idiotness for not checking the requirements for Windows 10] (If you are annoyed of the ammount of the thread with a "Pixel Format Not accelerated" problem, plz Share this signature

Sounds like a pretty confident post for something that doesn't exist.
Pretty nice, I mean we do have a coal block, it only makes sense.

The wiki says coal blocks smelt 80 items, not 81.
I probably wouldn't use this much, but I still support.
Seems a logical extension of the coal block but as mentioned, coal is a found resource and charcoal a made one.
Can't say as how we need it. Little support.
