Were do I download this, I want it so bad
spiders should hang from the ceiling
There IS a download to the mod, but the dimensions seem to be broken and crash the game at the moment... But, if you still want to download it, it's for Minecraft 1.7.10, and the download is here.
Despite the fact this would take a very long time to implement, I love this idea. I personally think Minecraft could be more difficult and have more to strive for.
Obsidian (I give your suggestion a 10/10)

I'm still using Windows 7.
I said this. Two days later, my computer's motherboard melted down and I had to get a new one with Windows 8.
PS: feel free to tweak my idea in any way shape or form.
This is great and all!!! but where is the love in the sky :)?
i'd love to see more done with sky levels.
Here is just some of my suggestions:
So ye, you start with the regular surface layer:
This layer consists of Below sea level, sea level, and above sea level
Pretty straight forward for the ground.
But wait:
Surface level:
The next level apart of the surface level (sub level)
is the hills level. Still pretty explanatory.
The next level up is still apart of the surface level (sub level)
and this is the mountainous level. This consists of tall, jagged mountains that stretch
high and reaching peaks that would normally be hard to traverse.
At this point, you would be way above the clouds.
Mountains will contain methods of getting to the stratosphere:
Stratosphere:
The stratosphere consists of ethereal, tangible clouds that can be mined. Up here, there isn't much other than clouds
but you can get air essence from the clouds to use in some way.
The stratosphere is a dangerous place because it is easy to fall from this height.
After the stratosphere comes the Thermosphere:
Thermosphere:
The Thermosphere is a place that verges to the exosphere.
Up here, gravity is reduced by some amount and your jumps let you jump higher.
The Thermosphere consists of patches of floating tangible cloud dirt and stone.
These patches aren't much but is considerably more than the clouds down in the Stratosphere.
It is also considerably snowy up here and there is ice and snow patches.
After the verge from Thermosphere, you then make your way to the Exosphere.
Exosphere:
The Exosphere is a whole bunch of chaos. Up here, you jump higher than before.
The Exosphere consists of floating islands made of star dust and meteor ore. This area
has a lot of floating land in which you can explore. There are Temples up here. There are also
cherubs and frozen angels up here. Other mobs such as sky whales exist up here too. There are
a few mystical ores up here and multiple other blocks (feel free to add onto my ideas). This land also
has ice and is weathered with snow. Snow up here starts to hurt if you are in it for too long.
After the Exosphere comes space.
Space:
This is the only level where fly is enabled, leaving this layer will cause you to fall to your doom.
Space consists of solid meteors and stars where you can collect sun stone
After space comes the final level, the furthest reaches:
The furthest reaches:
After a while of space travel and going up some more, you make your way to the furthest reaches.
Here, gravity is fine. The terrain consists of ethereal clouds and a high density of floating islands made of hollowed ground and
holy stone. Mobs such as angels, statues, unicorns, bunnies, winged pigs, and Hallowed guardian can be found up here. Holy ore can
be used to make excalibur. Other ores like star fragments can be used to make other neat things. You can also find the heavenly vast temple
up here that can wield some sick loot. The temple also has an egg in the middle of it u can use to summon and kill the sky dragon (or maybe a god). after killing the dragon or god, a teleportation will be set up that u can use to get back down to the surface. Also you can make Hermes Boots with the hallowed ingots and golden feathers which will let you fly in any layer in the Stratosphere and above.
Like i said, feel free to add on i just think the sky needs more love too
This suggestion is about caves, and the underground, if you want some more in the sky (Which I think needs a bit more added to it, too) then make your own suggestion. Then many people will share their opinions on your suggestion! If we add things on this suggestion about the sky, it will become a wishlist, we don't want this locked, do we?

I don't see it as a wish list, more of like "the layers of the world" suggestion instead

Unfortunately, this thread -- while I support the original idea 100% -- has already turned into a chaotic wish list. I have given up trying to keep track of which features were suggested by the OP and which have been added by others.
I think we've lost our direction here, sad to say.

this is not wish list (witch it aggenst the rules for some reason)
portals are required when making a dimension. in 0.0.2, i worked around this by required end portal frames (the ones that you get when 12 eyes of ender are placed, good luck making a portal with that.)
however, i needed to test the dimensions and thus in 0.0.4 these temporary portals where used.
think of it as a debugging feature.
As for portals, eventually if you can get the Atum-esque structures to work (check with the creator of the Atum dimension for how he made his portal and dimension work), they can be a cool-looking way to go to the next layer.

I just took the Minecraft Noob test! Check out what I scored. Think you can beat me?!
I'm also working on this as a mod, and here's my progress (I'm a little behind you on some things since I started after your Forge crash):
Portals to the Drop level generate like ores at the bottom of the normal Overworld.
The Drop level itself is a bunch of ravines that span the level. It is still missing the lava falls and maybe some caverns at the top.
At the bottom of the Drop level, there are more portals generating like ores, back to the surface (for now).
The Maze level dimension and portal exist in the code, but the portals do not generate in the world yet since the maze level itself is very unfinished.
The portals are still heavily WIP.
Pics (sorry about the missing light in the first pic): (Note: These are actual pics from the mod, not tricks with resource packs and vanilla gen)
The source will be available as soon as I fix the maze level worldgen a bit.

.mcr file? Is that some sort of worldsave (MCRegion) or an MCreator file (I'm confused since I don't use MCreator)? If it's an MCreator file, I might want the .mcr file to get whatever stuff from it I can (using MCreator) to help me with making mine, but I won't be using MCreator to actually make mine. I'm coding directly with Java and Forge 10.13.2.1291.
Edit:
3 Questions:
1) Do you know how you got the Maze level caves to generate to level 255?
2) @kittykattykat How deep is the Maze level? Didn't see that the post said 200 blocks now! I think I checked earlier and it didn't say, though that could have been another level.
3) Could I use the "Journal of a Lost Man" in mine? It would be a Written Book than generates in loot chests.
Edit 2:
If you also want to keep working on this, I might be able to try to help you fix Forge.

but besides that support
Did you mean an "entire"?
Anyway, I said this before, and I'll say this again. Some of these ideas are really good.
Some ideas are not.
1/2 support
