well
i dont like the idea of other humans in minecraft. SO maybe things more like Wyverns in desert towers, Wendigos in Taiga biomes, Amarok wolf in Winter Biomes, Nandi Bears in Savanna biomes, Nightmares in Plain Biomes, Bunyips in swamp biomes, A Leviathan/Scylla/Kraken in ocean, a Devil in the nether, and so on. I have been thinking about that sort of stuff alot, but i never really could word it right to post it.
I've been thinking a long time about bosses, specifically I've been daydreaming about a Creeper Boss for a long time.
I always see it as a large temple you have to find (I think it would be coolest for it to be an island, but since we don't have oceans I don't think this would really work). The temple has a small chance to spawn when you load a new chunk, making its location random in each game. However it's design is not. It is constructed out of a new type of "creeper block" that explodes when destroyed and grows back instantly (along with a the same 'pulsing/growing' effect the creepers use when they're about to explode), making it impossible to just tunnel through to the boss.
Creepers have preset spawns in the temple, rather than just spawning in the dark, and are the only monster you will find in the Creeper Temple. I think it would be best if the creeper blocks gave off a low level of light themselves and torches are unable to be placed on their surface, but simply disabling monster spawns on creeper blocks would work just as well. The explosions of creepers and creeper blocks do not harm the creeper blocks (as one explosion would cause the entire place to explode and respawn, guaranteeing the player's death).
The temple is a small maze. It would be cool if it had keys and such, but not necessary. At the end is a large room containing the boss -- A large, floating creeper head roughly the same size as a ghast. It doesn't fly around the room everywhere, but rather I imagine it staying within a range of 3~5 blocks off the floor (moving within this range), and moving around the room to move away from the player while. It pulses, again like the creeper's explosion effect, and spits seeds. When the seeds hit the ground, it causes a creeper to grow there and come after you. This is the Creeper Head's only attack, but given the deadliness of creepers, it would be enough.
Upon defeat of the Creeper Head, there would be a couple of drops. Either an item (either a piece of gear or an item that gives effect by simply having it in the player's inventory) that reduces the damage a creeper's explosion deals to the player, or a placeable object that prevents nearby blocks from being harmed by creeper explosions (maybe a 20x20x20 radius), or a permanent buff that either causes creepers to ignore you unless you get close to them (~10 blocks) or causes them to run away from you during the day. It would also drop a stack of creeper blocks along with the creeper wand, the only tool that allows the player to break (and harvest) creeper blocks without the explosion.
Placed creeper blocks would have the same properties as those in the temple, meaning they can't destroy other blocks and they grow back after exploding (this doesn't mean you can get more than 64 creeper blocks by growing more, only that exploded creeper blocks respawn after detonating, and they do so using a growing animation). They can, however, be detonated with redstone. Players could use creeper blocks and pressure plates to create land mine traps for enemies.
I think this Lava Golem thing should, instead of dropping something you craft(which I don't fully understand),drop a full set of armor.(Lava Suit) This would allow you to swim in lava while giving the damage to the suit, which would allow access to some other boss's lair that is completely under lava.
You should not be able to craft the items you get from bosses. You should get the item along with a gem or a wand or anything, to respawn the boss in case you die or drop it lava or something stupid.
This idea is inspired by the More creeps and weirdos mod
The "boss" Would be a jailor, who can be found near a cobblestone (or bed rock)building; the "prison" Now, when this boss fights you, he attempts to damage you below X amount of hearts. Upon getting you low enough, he arrests you, bringing you into the prison, in a small room with a bed, leather armor (or nothing) in a chest. You lose all weapon items (Bow, Sword and arrows) but keep everything else (Or not, to make it harder, perhaps scaling with difficulty. You must find a way out, maybe a hole in the floor, maybe a few blocks of cobblestone instead of bedrock. Then, you must get your gear back. The chest could be (I have no idea how hard this is to code) randomly placed, depending on difficulty. So on easy (on peaceful the mob would not spawn) The chest could be right outside the cell, but on hard, it could be in the jailors office (see below) Then you can A) Run and escape the prison, or :cool.gif: Kill the jailor, and get some loot for the trouble he caused. The jailor can't arrest you again, instead choosing to kill you. His attacks are: Punch, he hits you, his weakest attack. Stun baton, an attack that slows your speed, making it harder for you to avoid his attacks. Tazer, causes your screen to blur slightly, and prevents you from moving. When he dies, he drops (I have no idea, some help would be nice) Then you can run, and get away from the prison. The Jailor would have fairly low health, and be one of the weaker bosses.
I know you said you wouldn't respond to redundant or broken ideas, but any feed back would be nice so I can improve this idea.
DUE TO COME OUT SOON IN A FUTURE UPDATE IS A "STRONGHOLD"!!!! There is a picture released from mojang, and it is speculated this is some kind of large dungeon complex!! :biggrin.gif: It sounds epic!!
I like the earth monster, the lava golem, the giant slime, and the Cthulhu; they seem to fit the most to the game. The human like mobs don't fit too well; you're the only human (for now) and all the other humans wish to murder you? They seem a little overpowered too. I would never be able to kill any of them. (I don't care much for their drops either.) However, they do look rather thought out and the few I liked would in my opinion be very good additions to the vanilla game. (I also like the idea of them all being in special 'dungeons' made of obsidian, underwater, etc. This makes them optional. I don't know if the giant slime needs a special room though.)
Thx for that really long post, I read all of it and all the posts. :smile.gif:
I guess there could be a dragon of some sort, that would be cool. Maybe it would be found at a mountain that reaches the height limit. (they're not as rare as u think) It could drop scales which could be tougher than diamond. But then it would have to be like a normal mob.

Lair: Dungeon made entirely of stone, some stone blocks have creeper faces carved into them
Appearance: A giant creeper, about 20-50 blocks tall
Special: Immune to all explosions
Attack: Spawns a creeper
Drops: 10-15 TNT (And 30 second delay before 50 creepers spawn)
HP: 50 hearts
Now wouldn't that scare the living @#%$ out of you?
Oh My Mother F****** God
O.O O.O O.O o.O O.o
