Do you find gold annoying to mine for? Do you hate mining? Do you want an easy but not overpowered way to get gold? If yes, then my suggestion is for you.
I will give you the basic idea first. Gold sluicing scan only take place on the shores of a river biome. There are three types of sluice machines. Many parts are recquired to be made before you put the pieces together to make the sluice plant. Each type has different crafting recipes and different rates of gold collection. Wood- 10%. Iron-50%. Special-80%. they all collect gold nuggets, which you then take nine of to make one ingot. You need to put dirt or gravel into the plant (there will be a chestlike part where you collect your gold nuggets and insert your dirt or gravel. You NEED to power your machine with Redstone for it to work, this also allows many machines to work at once. I will provide details later but I'm kind of pressed for time and I hope that you get the idea. I will work out recipes for all the parts you need to make.
Wood Sluice Plants- As stated before, they will have a ten percent chance of collecting a gold nugget from a dirt or gravel block. They have 5 parts required to be made before the whole machine is put together. The frame, the gold collection box, the dirt insert box, the pipe and lastly, the water provider (Just a bucket of water).
Wood Frame Creation- you will need 8 sticks and 8 iron ingots. You first place the wood sticks in a ring around the empty centre square in a crafting table, this gets you one unfinished frame. You then put that frame into the centre crafting table square and surround it with iron ingots, this gets you one frame. Frames are the same recipe for all sluice plants.
How about a gold pan. You right click water. Wait, and then you get 5-10 golden nuggets. Done. Simple. No Machines.
I agree that is a good idea, but do you just await to sit there clicking water trying to get gold? Again, good idea, but my suggestion was so you could leave your base or sluice plant to do it's thing and go adventuring, then come back home and collect your gold nuggets that are waiting for you.
Considering the materials you will need for the good sluice plants, which I will list later, just a hint though, a LOT of iron for the good plants I'd say no. Plus you need to provide it with dirt or gravel for it to actually provide gold nuggets, and the percentage of the machine is for each block you put in, so basically, if you build a cheap wooden one, expect lower payout, if you splurge for more expensive plants, expect a high payout.

I'm... a bit confused.... why would we need an easier way to get gold? It's practically useless except for beacons but the only reason why people use gold for beacons is cause theres hardly any other uses for it. Also, since they're about the same rarity as diamonds, lapis, and red stone, there shouldn't be a reason why they're easier to get than those
Horse breeding currently require close to 2 gold bars (16 gold nugget) per new horse. I'm guessing that's where's the desire to have a gold farm comes from.

That and extensive use of powered rails.
Why would I need gold to breed them? Cant I just feed them normal food? If you really need an excessive amount of gold for whatever reason, zombie pigmen farms are the way to go. (Also, it's a better idea than just digging out a whole biome just to get dirt and gravel.)

I'm sorry to say that I'm in the "No Support" camp.
Gold sluicing doesn't magically create gold out of the river, instead it's just getting gold deposited into the river bed.
The suggestion could be tweaked to just request a new soil block (something like glittering soil) that ONLY spawn in special river biomes on map gen. Smelting the glittering soil in a furnace would produce 1 gold nugget.
With other potetially more efficient methods out there that require less sitting around, I unfortunately cannot give my support to this idea as a vanilla implementation.

You want these emeralds? Too bad! These are MY emeralds!
I don't care if you have a egg or dragon in your signature. I'm not gonna click it.
That's actually... A pretty good idea.
I'd love to see special dirt blocks with gold in them.

This may make Minecraft into an idle game, in which you just wait for the game to collect resources just like how iron farms work.
Your idea has been suggested before, and you shouldn't suggest things in suggestion threads.

I was talking about the suggestion. ._.

'Cause Horses are overpowered!

And support the ability to add paintings and records!
Also, mining is an essential part of the game. Minecraft. Why would you play it if you find one of the most important parts of the game boring?
Just because players can take advantage of game mechanics doesn't mean they should put an easy way to get gold in.
The OP should suggest. Everyone else should criticize, spin, and improve the suggestion made. One shouldn't suggest a completely different idea.
