it's a wrench/crowbar, a slab of metal that happens to have a shape functional for certain deconstructive tasks, not exactly high tech, and maybe they aren't goggles, maybe that's just how its eyes look.

The goggles... they do nothing.
Okay then, fine... I'd just prefer it to fit with the rest of his mobs...
He's got:
Tamable tortoises
Ridable giant birds, some of which paralyze you
Trolls that turn to stone in the light and hurl boulders
Octopi that swim about in the ocean, some will hide from you
Magical elemental sprites and flying whales
Beavers that build dams
Beautiful Oriental dragons
Thick-skinned fire salamanders
It's all got a very medieval-fantasy-natural feel, and simply would prefer this mob if it had a more medieval fantasy natural feel. That is all.

I understand your discomfort with the design. Something that I have been trying to do, with limited success, is isolate the theme of Minecraft so that you can't pick out a certain genre. So I wouldn't say that just because everything is with swords and bows and such, that the setting is medieval. We do have dynamite and vinyl records for example!
Alas! I can't have everyone's love for each mod. I'd like to say that there was something I could do to make it match better with what you'd like, but that wrench makes me smile so much on the inside!!

Hmm, not to sound greedy or something like "Well to make up you could do this.." but I suggested a mob called an Imp which tunnels through single blocks at a time and has a chance of stealing one of your items before running away. I can give you the link if you wish to see if it inspires you.

I LOVE the wrench. Besides, It definitely fits in with redstone and that general "mechanical" feel.
lol Cant you imagine someone making an epic, intricate, complex mechanism in survival, planning to show Youtube when, in recording, the poor fellow finds out a good part of his giant machine has been disassembled due to the Gremlins? They're like the trollers of Minecraft. And I love that.
i think a simple solution would be he stays in a 25 block radius of u, and when walking over minecart tracks or redstone will make it dissapear.(it will turin back to where u can pick it up)this could make him a much easier mob to program and still as mischevious.
I would be totally behind this the Dragon and the Octopus :biggrin.gif: I like the idea of how it's just a pain in the ass. I mean, who wants a game thats too easy? Games are no fun unless they have a challenge to them. This would definitely be a challenge. Maybe you could have a setting to turn it off? The only problem would be mine cart tracks. Redstone destruction is fine. Mine cart tracks: It isn't that big of a deal if you have to get out and place another one, but I don't think anyone would have mine cart tracks in their houses. I really like the idea and think it could totally work :biggrin.gif:
I give it a notch :smile.gif: I'm also thinking that you could have a it to where like on the Hard setting, it would set traps. Like replace 1 redstone wire with tnt? Or like set a trap in your chest? Also it shouldn't be able to have anything except for stuff it takes from your chests. That is all
Oh man I would LOVE this little guy. I wouldn't kill him but keep him as a pet! XD
Maybe you should make some of them that help players out? To balance it out?
Think of the good ones as Gizmos!
I love this idea! I can imagine the feeling one might get after finally hunting down and killing a gremlin that's been haunting you for weeks.
But what if you create a massive palace centered around the use of minecarts and redstone? Gremlins are attracted to that kind of thing, right? So you'd get gremlin after gremlin, and maybe even two at once. It'd suck if the new focus of your palace was to constantly flush out the gremlin infestation and repair your machinery, rather than create new things. Then again, I guess that's what peaceful mode is for...
Anyway, another great mob! Keep it up.
First off, I've just got to say that I can't believe I've never noticed this before. It's my little potentialy-in-game-namesake!
Now that's out of the way, I think that the best way to determine where your 'base' is would be to look at where you've been the most, and where the most created blocks are placed, if that makes sense.
Also, I think I might have missed this, but how would it 'hide'? I'd go for the idea of it digging 1x1 tunnels, or dissapearing when out of your sight. If it's been mentioned, I completley missed it, and I'm a doofus.
Well, there goes my idea for an emergency self-destruct switch. This little bugger gets to the big button and my whole base is screwed.
Say Hello to the new Creeper! lol
It would be funny if there was a mob that didn't necessarily attack, but just ran around pushing every button and throwing every switch it can find. Better yet, be able to catch one, put it in a box, and leave the box outside your buddy's house.
*Ding-Dong
*Opens door
"What's this?"
*Clicks box. Several gremlins spawn from it, running into the house.
"What the Hell? What are these things and why are they running towards the switches...
"WAIT! DON'T TOUCH THAT!!!"
*Gremlin lets out maniacal giggles. Pushes button.
*Distinct sound of TNT igniting. Lots of TNT.
"RUN AWAY! RUN AWAY!!!!!!!"
*BOOOOOOOOOOOOM
*Guy looks back at the crater of his former home.
*Gremlin falls from the sky, smoke rising off of it.
*Guy stares at Gremlin. Gremlin looks up at him.
*Gremlin gives a huge grin. Teehee.
"Seriously. Screw you."

You're talking about that variant that was thought of in the earlier pages. It would not destroy things, just play around with your stuff, mess up your chest, ride your minecarts (maybe), etc. It would be funny to be able to capture them and sick them on your friends in SMP though.

Exactly. I think it would be a good prototype for an NPC. Not really dangerous on its own, but incredibly entertaining if harnessed by the player. Gremlin powered music machines, anyone?
The goggles... they do nothing.
