First of all, I want to say, that I have no models for this. You need something like techne, but at the moment, I can't download it. If anyone would be good enough to make a picture, please ask me about it before posting it here.
Intro
Obviously, it's a new nether mob. I'm almost positive this hasn't been suggested. I honestly didn't check, but it's such an original idea that I've built on so much, that I doubt anyone has come up with an idea quite like this.
So, anyway, it's called a Flame Weaver, at least for now. There's going to be a poll to vote on the name. But, to put extremely simple, it's a mix between a wither skeleton and a spider that shoots threads of fire. That may sound dumb, but once you get into more detail, it'll be cool.
Appearance
As I said, it's a mix between a wither skeleton and a spider. Kind of. First of all, the bottom half is a spider. But, it looks kind of like a skeleton of a spider. Now, I know that spiders don't have skeletons. But, it would look like a spider, but just look skeleton-y, if that makes sense. On the back of it, on the abdomen, there is a glowing, red symbol, which can be seen on picture 1. That's the enchanting rune for v, but it looks cool, and it's from minecraft, so let's go with it. But, where the head would be, the top half of the wither skeleton (hips and up). It's arms are at an angle in between being straight ahead (like a zombie) and by its side (like a player). On it's fore head, it would have a red, glowing symbol, the same as is on the spider part. Also, it actually has red, glowing pupils. This is shown (the best of my abilities) in picture 2. I tried, but I couldn't add the rune to it. So, yeah, wither skeleton body, hips and up, connected to a spider body, without the head, where the head would be, and it's arms are at an angle in between straight in front and straight at its side. Following me so far? Good. At the end of its arms, there glowing red balls of light, that look to be on fire. This is what it shoots the flaming silk from.
Attacking It attacks by shooting flaming silk. From its hands. Sounds weird, I know, but I think it will be cool. Anyway, once it is in range (13 blocks), it will start shooting. It will shoot red threads, as thin as string, that sort of wave in the air, towards the player, from the glowing balls. These go at about .65x the speed as a full drawn arrow. But, the catch is, it will sort of follow you. Not like not like a homing missile, but it will bend towards your direction. It gains speed, getting to about the speed of a full drawn arrow in 7.5 seconds. It doesn't have awesome accuracy. Standing still, it has a small chance to hit as far away as 2 blocks. It won't stop (and so won't stop following you) either until it hits a person or block, hits water, or after 45 seconds. It will disappear if the Weaver is killed. These will stay connected. Once it disappears, the weaver will shoot another in 2 seconds.
Stats Health-30 (15 hearts) Damage-4-8 (2 hearts to 4 hearts) Speed-Speed of player with slowness 1. Special Abilities-Can climb up walls, and upside down, but will only stay holding on for 60 seconds until it falls. Fire resistant.
Drops 1. Trip Wires. This can be used instead of string for trip wires. When run over, it will set people on fire, as well as send a redstone signal, but half as far. 2. Bows. When made into bows, the bow will automatically have fire (or flaming, or whatever) 1 on it. 3. Flaming Silk Chest. Make them into a chest shape in the crafting table, and you get a flaming silk chest. Things put inside will automatically get smelted if they can be, but will take twice as time as a furnace. These have the physics of wool, but will have the blast resistance of glass. If placed in the overworld, it will explode like a bed in the nether, and it is almost like a snow golem where mobs will go after it, and it can be broken when attacked. Flaming silk looks like string, but red hot glowing red.
Spawning
It will spawn as often as ghasts, but has to spawn within 6 blocks of block, though it can wander off. It will only spawn in the nether.
Well, that's it! I hope you liked it. Please check out my other suggestions, give feedback, and ask any questions that you need to to. Thanks for reading!
This would be pretty cool, but wouldn't the flaming silk chest be a bit overpowered? Furnaces would be obsolete.
Yes, but remember, it would be half the speed of a furnace. I'm thinking that I should make the inventory in it smaller. You have any ideas?
But still, because you don't have to use any fuel, no one would ever use the furnace. So what that it smelts at half the speed? Everyone wants to save their coal for torches.
Besides, furnaces have been in Minecraft since forever, and are just as important as the crafting table. How would you like it if there was an auto-crafting table that made you anything you wanted without items AND read your mind so it makes exactly what you desire?
The mob itself is a great idea, but I can't think of any way to balance the flaming silk chest.

What do you think I should do instead of the chest, then? Also, the crafting table and this thing is totally different. I mean, with this, you still need the items, you just don't need fuel.
I am on the fence about this idea. Reason being is i don't like the chest idea, but i do like it as a new mob. My question would be, does this silk weapon do knockback?
If this does knockback then this mob would be more OP than skeletons. Other then that i give full support for this idea! Post was descriptive and easy to understand!

Support.
Thanks! I think that if you are running towards it, it should slow you down a little. Otherwise, if you have flame protection and diamond armor, you could just walk up to it, and kill it. I think, maybe just something small, like half a block, just to slow you down.
Also, I'm working on the chest. Have any ideas? Thinking about it, it is a little OP.

Well, if you reduced the accuracy a little but kept the long range on this mob, then maybe have 1 block knock or so that wouldn't be to bad. I think skeles in the overworld have like 2 block or 2 and 1 half block knockback. I dont see it as a bad idea, i just think skeles in the over world are pretty close to OP!
As for the chest idea, i wouldn't mind it but the issue would be is if you could make a farm for this new mob and just have a large furnace room with these new chests and therefore furnaces would be obsolete. If you can some how put a cap on how many chests you can make then that might make it less OP as well! All the other attributes you added to this post i don't think need to change.
