k, so i've been thinking. As I play, i realize nothing ever goes wrong within my base. EVER. why? nothing can physically get to me. the only thing holding back those creepers? a door...zombies? a single meter of dirt...now, this is specifically about the zombie.
Imagine: Cozy by your fireplace, you decide to take a leisurely stroll outside, only to realize that night has fallen and all the baddies have amassed outside your door. pssh, leave it shut! as you turn to leave, you hear a distinct scraping sound. as you turn around, you see the stone around the door crack more and more. OH NO! the 10 zombies outside have been beating on the stone for some time now, and are about to break through! you turn to run to your armory only to find that 1x1 block tunnel you made to keep the undead out has been breached! you quickly run up the stairs and block yourself in on the second story...the scraping and clawing begins anew on the wall...what do you do??
my proposal? Zombies are dangerous yes, but behind that wall, they're the most harmless mob in the game! not anymore! by themselves one zombie would only be able to break a single dirt block...maybe even that glass wall...but in packs...even the mightiest stone would need reinforcement!
give them say, the strength of your own fist...that way your stone is MUCH more vital to you. you have so much of it yes? this forces the player to be a bit more creative with their structures instead of dirt mounds or the like.
of course for difficulty sake only allow the zombies to do this on normal/hard?
anyone else think this would be AWESOME!?

MY friends actually realize that real life has better graphics than any game, and that gameplay is infinitely better. Thus they all play Minecraft.
well notch did say there would be a future zombie survival mode so maybe this feature will be included in a future mode. I think that would be best too because i'd hate to see my beautiful house destroyed.
yeah, i saw the "Zombie Siege" mode, and that kinda hurried along this suggestion. I looked through the topic but didn't see anything about the zombies breaking in to your base, so here we are! can't wait to chew through some corpses with my diamond longsword >:smile.gif:

what if the zombies were slow at breaking things? If the zombies can tunnel through stone in like 10-15 seconds then you may as well have never built a house in the first place.
Zombies should be able to dig at the same speed you do with your bare hands, with a cumulative effect. This would cause 1 zombie to not really be a threat, but 2 or three zombies going at the same block digs 2 or 3 times as quickly as you do with your bare hands.
good idea!but it shouldnt be for all difficulties.if it was all the noobies would never get their houses built and have to live in caves and barricade themselves in 10-block thick structures.it should be fore only normal or hard and up.but anyway, nice idea!
how would it work? on normal mode, the zombies would have a limited detection range...their sight stays normal, but if they encounter an obstacle within a certain range of the player, they could then begin clawing their way in. On Hard however, once they know you're there, they won't stop...no matter how far you run... :biggrin.gif:

they seem to hit harder (skele's at least) and there seems too be more of them on hard. I kinda have an idea for spiders (they can walk on walls/ceilings right?) but figured it would be to cliché.
I think with the introduction of "Assault Zombies", new gameplay elements would arise (moats, no more solid glass houses/walls, and actual thought as to where/how you build your house). this is just my opinion.

Normal: Zombies can break through things with a hardness of stone or higher
Hard: Zombies can break through things with a hardness of wood or higher
if you set up a 10-block wall then they kill of at least 2 or 3 zombies befor they can find you
jan 26 2011 someone tryed to hack me @ 6:30
That being said, I still think this idea could work well on land homes.
Considering they stalk you to death even behind walls I'm sure they'd figure it out.
Great idea, love it. Perhaps the zombies and skellies could work together!
