Where the torch is of course a redstone torch. This would allow long distance circuits to be set up without needing a billion repeaters. I used gold to make it more "expensive" since you're not laying down a billion redstone dust. Perhaps the glass lens could be replaced with diamond if you still think it's too cheap?
This would also be useful as a tripwire trigger, as anything that steps in the laser path would break the circuit.
Sure we do, I've got at least 4 little pocket lasers from the dollar store somewhere. In fact, the average laser pointer costs less than the average wristwatch these days.

Those may be lasers but they don't make circuits work or act as trip wires.
I think that the idea of a laser is a bit over the top for this game but other than that I like it.
It gives us something else to do with gold, It allows us to make long distance circuits, and gives us a new trap to play with.
honestly i think your being a little too picky. and about that whole mirror/ solar panel idea i think is realy good. i'm thinking about making a thread about it...
redstone for the most part is not necissarily ment for LONG distances opperations, if you want something to travel really far it should not be so simple as to just put a laser and fire it, i think repeaters are perfectly fine and making 200 repeaters on a group of wires used to change rail road tracks turning points is the simple price to pay in order to create something that in the end is self rewarding.

the idea i like but maybe repace the iron with because it would be really useful so i think it should be a bit more expensive and because laser is a very concentrated light beam it should deal atleast some damage if in you are in the way

Thoughts?

We have watches and switches, both of which are futuristic.

The average person has watches and switches though. We don't all have lasers sitting around.

so instead of sci-fi lasers you have rays of sunlight.
I think that something like this would fit better.

I rest my case.
