And then mining tools are already at their prime.
I wonder what kind of drills have already been made into mods.
hmmm... If the undead are mainly zombie types, I wonder if giving them tools and telling them to go get things like dirt and stone (the easy stuff) would work. That's similar to mine colony, but with flip-side sunlight restrictions.
hhmmm (Thinking over mountains of dialogue and, well... other thoughts)
This mod is most certainly entertaining; a good addition to the norm of MineCraft.
A bit of a fast run into suggesting, but I certainly support the idea of undead creepers and a lich.
What's similar to a lich, but more slave-like are legionnaire (skeletal soldiers w/ uniforms, who wield swords).
While something more complex (and orderly) like undead phalanxes seems uncharacteristic, initially, blending them with latter mobs and with each other is a matter of programming.
If the idea is popular enough then I can give further clarity or even possible aesthetic models (view plains).
Sounds interesting. Do they come with the armor? Or can you stick it on em' later? Does the armor look different than the norm?

The idea is good and you have put down a lot of time on it, but my personal view is not to make it to big. I think its important to keep the minecraft feeling, to make it more minecrafty and less overpowered you could make the undead less effective. Its important not to let one feature in the game take over.
(An in-game alternative would be mining machines)
I can see where your coming from with the "It's too big" statement. I figure that if Notch even decides to implement it (which is improbable. But no harm trying to get it in game), he'd just pick/choose between summons to decide what he likes best.
I've already done my best to balance the mobs out though. Most of them burn in daylight, and all of them require killing a skeleton with a weak melee weapon to get.

~ I've thought about the phrase 'Money is the root of all evil' and I have to disagree. Evil isn't dependant on an object. I say that want is the root of all evil.
The concept of legionnaire is kind of like mixing mine colony and necrocraft together. Each type is based on what type of sword they are summoned with (stone being basic, diamond being a Captain).
Armor is summoned with them, but is purely aesthetic, thus making it impossible to equip them with it later (a balancing technique).
I also thought of making management of them easy at night by put a redstone wire (dust) and redstone torch in the mix so that they'd have glowing red lines on white leather armor skins or something like that. (glows only when on "stay and guard" command).
I have more statistic data and could hand draw the ideas if anyone wants me to post some.
My Summoning Concept:
Mastery Book - Skeletal Body - Redstone Dust - Restone Torch - [Material] Sword
Leather - Soul Block - Wool (White Only)
Gold Ingot - Iron Ingot - Soul Amulet
To the people who say it's "Too complex for what MineCraft was intended to be":
Redstone. That is all.
Indeed... My legionnaires idea has redstone in the formula for a reason. It makes auto-orders easier to give in this case with wires as trails and the torch in their souls as the conductors.

Sounds good.. but, uh. What's the redstone needed for. Does the skeleton do anything special? Which relates to redstone? Like patrolling it? Or.. is it more for ingame lore? And what makes it worth all the material, instead of summoning, say, a couple of ghouls or something?

The materials, needed to make a legionnaire soldier are harder to attain for statistical fairness.
Universal Traits of all Legionnaire ranks:
*Wield some kind of sword and are summoned with armor already attached
*Give of dim red glows when at night to make them easier to find
*If placed within 5 blocks of one another they would be programed to form an approximate phalanx (Cpt. not included)
*Will follow redstone wires if told to move after the wire is placed in front of them. (Like torches, putting them in succession would cause all of them to move on the same path. This method would remove corner issues when cutting around large, hilling worlds. complete circuits will loop the troops and incomplete ones make them back track. No power need be added to the wire, only placed).
*Have a 2x2 inventory to place food items for them to use, or replace their swords with bows and arrows. (Their swords appear in the inventory).
*Speed = 1:1 of the player character
*Damage to enemy p/hit = 2 hearts at a "hold down the mouse" firing rate. (this is an estimation)
*85 docile : 15 aggressive spawn ratio
Cpt. (Diamond Sword) specific traits:
*Complex commands (which aren't necessary)::
: right click, right click, left click, left click, right click = overwrite all functions and default to follow player
: right click, right click = mimic mode (the cpt. will mirror the players movements at a logical speed)
: left click, left click = bring player nearest other minion
: (with redstone trail to button on block) right click, right click, left click, right click = press the button when player tells you to (aka- hit the cpt. with your bare hand)
* height 2 and 7/16 blocks tall
*HP = 10 hearts
* can only have a single captain summoned at a single time (other must die before resummoning)
*can be named after summons is initially completed (9 letter maximum)
*will not follow underground, even in overwrite mode
*cannot swim
*will not listen to guard order unless player puts 4+ torches are at his cardinal directions
*can be sent via distant redstone path to a bench with material in his inventory to do simple crafting (i.e. - sacrificial dagger)
In summary, legionnaire would use a decent number of more complex codes to function, and serve the player more like a mobile NPC, which makes them harder to summon.
Basic
Cor.
Lt.
Cpt.
*(these are the four ranks by title)
Alternative to summon a captain:
1. summon 24 basic legionnaire and give them wooden swords.
2. build 12x12x4 box (or so) of any building material and have a 3x1 redstone wire in the middle
3. tell one basic to stand at one end and another at the other (they won't walk because the redstoen was putdown without them their to begin with).
4. right click one
5. left click the other
6. step back and watch them kill each other
7. repeat this process until only one troop is left standing
8. give him a diamond sword
9. order your new captain around
Think of all the Christian fundamentalists we could **** off with this, they will be saying the game turns children into Satanists!
Notch, please add this to the game, trolling fundamentalists is fun.
Adding blood sacrifices to the game? Lol, that would **** off a lot more people than Christian fundamentalists. I think it's best to just keep this a mod.
But don't take this post wrong, I still think this mod looks awesome :smile.gif:
Really Rough, I know. -.-' (Front Side Only)
Arm.........................Torso......................................................Torso...........................Arm
(Light-Grey is meant to be either white or unbiased coloring. Red stone stripes, skeletal chest, and gold buttons make up the torso (3 to L-arm) (7 to torso) (3 to R-arm). The pants are redstone stripes on sides with white mid and interior of legs (4 to each leg)).
Again... sorry for not being able to get a file uploaded.

Hmm. Care to write a description for the summon, for me to put in the OP?

How do you create the little things next to the Tome? im trying to craft a skeleton...
You mean the one in the slot to its right? You put a body in the furnace.

Cool. I like the Shadow Parasite, but the Undead Creeper is good.
I also like the Lich, did you think of it independently or did you get it from my first post? Either way I think they should command troops, that is why I made them, everybody was making up stuff to do this job, so I thought it proper to make something already from myth.

Thanks man :biggrin.gif: now i have skeletons guarding my lawn, cuz hey creepas gonna creep. Now how do you make the little zombie bodies or are they just bodies?

My favorite is Shadow Parasite though.
I mainly took from other posts, but the whole "It can only do one useful thing at a time, and soul blocks speed up summoning" I hadn't seen, and made up.

The first post discusses how to get everything in the upper section(s). There are only bodies and skeletal bodies.

I like it, the redstone would help with "patrol" commands, as I could just make it so they try to follow it!
sorry about me not being on yesterday, I've decided to have "No-computer Sundays", for no apparent reason...
But I'll just have to see what I can get done!
Creating Necromancy since 2011!
Necro-ing Necromancy threads since 2014!
Repeatedly restarting mods since 2015!
I've now completed a "first rough draft" of uniform sketches and will eventually post the file. (When I shrink it enough).
I'll just use wool smilies from the sidebar to make a rough representation of the sketch, since my computer feels like being difficult...
My Apologies. -_-'
