Love the idea! Also as Benh66 suggested, maybe if those monsters encountered others like them they would group, for a maximum of three individuals, making it so much more fun when they fall on your head...
If they're some kind of spiders then I guess they would drop string, like regular spiders... but then it wouldn't be very interesting to hunt them. Coal? (maybe they eat that as they dig?) a tiny tiny chance of dropping diamond? (Accidentally swallowed?)
This was actually my initial plan for them, but I think its more terrifying if you just see something small flitting through the light and hiding in shadows, rather than a swarm of them. Also having too many kamikaze mobs hit you at once would be frustrating for players.
I love both behavioral ideas, maybe the black one could be the loner and the brown one the pack mob. A friggin' swarm of the weaker brown variety would be awesome.
I can't pass by this topic without supporting it. Lovely renders, as I've come to expect from you. Great idea, too. In fact, I'm going to have a hard time enjoying my caves and mines until these are implemented.

I gotta say I'm not a big fan of a few selcect of your projects, but this one sounds good, since they are bing so weak they should travel in packs of 3-5 it'd be alot scarrier seing 5 pairs of eyes glowing at you then just 1. This would be one of the mobs that I think would be worthy of being in the game.

I are Emporer of Catkind this is serious thread. ಠ_ಠ
How about it is a mob for those areas long empty tunnels that are in the nether?
How about varying sizes and forms that have different tasks? Like one that's a basic drone that searches for materials and places it. One that tunnels and has slight combat ability, but is neutral. Warriors that actively seek out enemies near by and attacks them (including other monsters), etc.
i got a texture pack now, its here it changes how armor and tools look and has a few slight changes to a few blocks in terrain like making the redstone torch look more like a redstone torch then a lollipop.
Few thoughts, how about the eventually added Lanterns will deter these mites from falling on you? That way, you can at least be safe holding one, but if you have to put it away to mine? AMBUSH!
I can agree with them being able to tunnel, but we obviously can't just having them tunneling aimlessly throughout the world. So I propose they are:
1. Spawned in a large clod of dirt when the player is near by, and have them borrow towards the player until they make it to a block of air (The players tunnel). Then they resume their primary protocol of hiding in dark places and roofs waiting for the player.
2. Aware of when the player enters into a dirt structure, and then attempts to burrow into or underneath the structure and resume their original protocol. This way they can threaten players even in the safety of their own abodes.
3. I'm tempted to propose them crawling above your bed at night, but I think that might be over-doing it.
I also like the idea of them attacking torches. I just like the idea of them in general. :smile.gif:
What if they blended in well with rocks with dim lighting, but if you get too close to them their eyes light up and they hiss at you and attack? That would be scary.
Sounds interesting. And having things drop from the ceiling onto your head is always a plus where horror is concerned.
I like that it doesn't take much to kill them.

My YouTube channel is currently on hiatus, but I hope to get back to it at some point. Content is fairly random, but can be enjoyable, and is mostly game footage (mostly random Minecraft clips) from my nephews and me. Most popular MC vid so far is the one Vechs laughed at on Twitter!
would be really cool and creepy if when it runs away it make tcku sounds so when it runs it sounds like TckuTckuTckuTckuTckuTcku
and gets quieter as it runs away
This is great! I like the idea of it being able to tunnel through blocks, but maybe nothing harder than dirt. It would suck to have my obsidian fortress suddenly develop a hole.

Great mob! I like how it only attacks while it is above the player.
I do not like the idea that it tunnels because it can interfere with some of my underground building projects :/
Will this bugger spawn in a certain level? Or cave like openings?
I say no to tunneling unless it is only going to be in dirt, as you said, and 1 x 1.
okay okay good job!
