You might also try 808 as the seed for your world generator. I spawned in a swamp which turned out to be very big. After following it east for a long way I came to an NPC village. The chest at the forge had 2 iron pickaxes, an iron sword, two pieces of iron armor and 4 blocks of obsidian. Village also has a library.

I just tried your seed in 1.4.2 with large biomes enabled and spawned right next to a Witch hut!
