I've seen people trying a lot of Minecraft related words as seeds for their worlds. Some do create interesting places, but nothing that could truly be considered an easter egg. An easter egg would be something intentionally created by the developers, and can be either identified as such or confirmed by code inspection.
I was hoping that with the new easily accessible seed feature (yes, I know it has been around for a long time, but this would be the first time for a wide audience to enjoy such easter eggs) that they would have added some sort of easter egg to it for certain seed words/phrases/numbers. The only problem I'd see with doing this would be the pre-designed chunk/s which would have to be 'injected' into the otherwise randomly generated one around it, and the info be saved in a non-conspicuous way that isnt easily found by code lurkers.
Has anyone found anything they might consider an easter egg? Whats the seed? What are the coordinates of the easter egg?
Yes, conspiracies should abound here. Feel free to post anything you think is 'suspicious'.
I thought Notch payed attention to his MSPA fans and typed in "413" expecting to get a checkerboarded planet but it never finished loading and the game just exited itself.
Keep in mind that it may not be directly next to your spawn point. The spawns seem to happen about +/-256 from 0 on X and Z. Might want to do a little scouting before making any final conclusions.
Anyone feel like scouring the code for any sort of seed triggers for this?
Seed must be numerical for the function to work properly (telling someone to use "notch" will give them a different world than yours, but tell them "1234" and it will be the same).
Umm, how do we access the seeds? And how do we change them? sorry but this sounds interesting :biggrin.gif:
When you make a new world, there is now a field to enter a "seed". Its a very derp moment when you've been reading these and haven't tried it yourself :biggrin.gif:
Btw, for anyone who wants to try out the 404 seed, the gravel in question is at -25, 66, 19.

No. No. No. And another no.
This has been suggested and busted multiple times.
You can use words as seeds, even capital letters. The fact is that it likely uses the binary code of the character to generate the world, so its possible any character will work with this.
WHat you are likely experiencing is random spawn points. Even with the same seed word/number, you will spawn in a different location, the only exception is that it will always be on sand. If there is very little sand in your world, you will likely spawn in close proximity to the same place every time.

Oh, ha ha thanks!

whats with you older peeps all over minecraft?i thought this was a game for people around my age
there's two experiments I want to test using this new feature.. Notchnasty (original SMP password) and typing in a world name (Ex: World1).
If anyone tests this for me, please credit any positive results please. :wink.gif:

I'm gonna try "Ez" next.

I have already done this, and so far this is the funniest I've seen out of the common term seeds. If you havent done this yet, I highly recommend it!

Thank you, I was greeted very kindly by a skeleton upon finding his cave.

OH MY GOD GIANT GAPING HOLE WITH TONS OF COAL AND ZOMBIES.
The seeds generate the same world but don't necessarily spawn you in the same spot. There's quite a few other things, read that seeds thread.
This should actually be merged/locked, that thread could have this.
(I seriously doubt there will be easter egg seeds, it's a programming thing. Possible but unlikely)
