Hey, I wanted to create those no-mob XP banks that work on furnaces storing XP. Im in 1.14.4 and if I build it in spawn chunks will it still work if im not near the spawn chunks?
Spawn chunks are always loaded so it should work unless the server lags and the machine can be broken that way. From the looks of it, you're using zero tick which doesn't cause a lot of lag.
However, you do need to be careful about lag if you're on a server. The extra entities and hoppers that this machine requires can cause a little lag and if you build too many things like this is spawn chunks, you can cause permanent lag since those chunks are always loaded until you stop the machine.
I'd recommend using an on/off switch if you aren't already, or just building it somewhere you spend the most time like your storage room or something like that. And you have some wiggle room if you put it in your base. I usually try not to go more than 128 blocks spherical radius from my contraptions to make sure they work. So maybe under your base?
And if you're playing on single player, forget that whole last part haha Build it wherever you want.
Hope this helps!

I do redstone. Haven't been doing it for very long.
I'd have to say no, not the one in the video you link anyway, according to the Wiki plants don't continue to grow away from the area players are in even in the spawn chunks.
