I made this on version 17w50a, although some other recent snapshots should work too.
Making permanently on redstone lamps:
This is done by putting a pressure plate and an item frame on top of the redstone lamp. (The item frame on the top was recently added in a snapshot) Though the tile entity of the item frame does not activate the pressure plate, it seems to keep it turned on once you step on the pressure plate.
1: Place redstone lamp
2: Place item frame on the top of lamp
3: Place pressure plate on the top of lamp -do not click on the item frame
Fun find, it will interesting to see if this behavior survives into the release version…
@Brian Santos:
I don't want to install the snapshot so I can't test it, but logically [yeah :rolleyes:] the lamp can't be place on the pressure plate; it does, however, seem like it ought to work with the item frame / pressure plate combo on a block to the side…

WARNING: I have an extemely "grindy" playstyle; YMMV — if this doesn't seem fun to you, mine what you can from it & bin the rest.

5: The lamp looks better with the new textures (although they are for 1.12): https://minecraft.net/en-us/article/try-new-minecraft-java-textures
Probably not very good if you want them on the ground, but still pretty good.
Any way to keep them on using the bottom instead? (I'm probably not going to use it, just curious)
