OK so I'm currently working on my dream redstone project - a fully automatic redstone "Smart house" and in the kitchen of the house, I need there to be a auto wheat farm on the roof. The auto wheat farm would harvest the wheat once in a while and it would put all the wheat into a hopper system which would then feed into a dispenser. The dispenser, full of wheat, would shoot out wheat when anybody enters the kitchen area.
What I need help in is the "auto harvest once in a while part" I was originally thinking of having a BUD that detects if the wheat is grown and then activates auto harvest if it is grown, but BUD seems kinda complicated to me. So, is there any way I can do that without BUD? I was thinking of a pressure plate with a block thrown on it. And when the block disappears (thrown items dissapear in 5 minutes) then the auto harvest would be activated!
OK, I see. So, in that case, is there anyway I can make a redstone trigger automatically after about 10 minutes? I was thinking maybe some sort of Minecart that was stuck in cobwebs with a pressure plate under it? It would take some minutes for the Minecart to get through the cobwebs and step on the pressure plate? Can pressure plates be triggered by a Minecart? Thanks!
You can't make a "fully" automatic wheat farm anymore.
The closest you can get is partially automatic. Not just because they don't update Buds but more because you can't auto plant the seeds due to changes made on dispensers.
There's many different ways to make a 10 minute clock though..
Think "minecarts" and "webs" and you'll manage..
No they can't activate pressure plates BUT
they can fall onto powered rail and trip a Detector Rail. (hint hint)
Aoccdrnig to a rscheearch at Cmabrigde Uinervtisy, it deosn't mttaer in waht oredr the ltteers in a wrod are, the olny iprmoatnt tihng is taht the frist and lsat ltteer be at the rghit pclae. The rset can be a toatl mses and you can sitll raed it wouthit porbelm. Tihs is bcuseae the huamn mnid deos not raed ervey lteter by istlef, but the wrod as a wlohe.
Hardmusle, I tried the miencart and web trick but it was not enough time for the wheat to grow. So I thought of making it somehow get back into the track system and go through the webs again. But I was unable to make it change track at the perfect time, can you pleas help me? Thanks!
You could also set up a light sensor to trigger a switch when it goes from on to off, and then have it count to 3. For instance, have the sensor trigger a repeater placed 10 or so blocks away ( so it will trigger around mid-day), route that to a piston relay controlled to close by the same signal on a delay so as to send a pulse. at night the gate will open and be able to be triggered again the next day. then you need a counter for 3 days, a reset, and the circuit to control the flow of water. I would recommend using the signal from the finished counter to trigger a minute timer to delay and close the gate controlling the water flow.
I do not know if this will change anything I only play on the Xbox 360 but by using hoppers and pistons You will not have to worry about the food trying to escape with the sticky pistons you only need to til the land once. (And every time you jump on it) A sticky piston will move without the farm land turning to dirt. I do not know if anyone know's this yet. If not then I will probably make a step by step picture tutorial of it. If anyone knew about this and know's if this will change please let me know before I do it in my survival world.

I'm pretty sure they've figured out the wheat farm by now. This thread is almost 2 years old.
