Hey guys. I've taken an extremely extensive hiatus from redstone. Some of you many remember me. Maybe not. Either way, I've been out of the loop for quite awhile, so I don't know all the quirks. Would love help on this. I would appreciate it immensely.
What I'm trying to do is create a 1x2 entrance that emerges from the ground, so it would fill the doorway like this, without any wiring above ground:
With the sandstone being the doorway and the stone brick being the actual door.
I'm trying to get the circuit compacted so I can fit it where I need it, under a lighthouse. Currently, this is what I have:
But I'm thinking some of the geniuses on here (if I remember, KidMischief was very good at this) can probably compact it more. Unfortunately, you can just build my design from pictures, so I included a world save: https://www.dropbox.com/s/vpqbv8zqatwy344/1x2Door.zip
Thanks for viewing. And if there's any new rules I've broken or something, feel free to inform me. Like I said, I've been out of it for awhile.
Didn't read the whold thing but it you want it all underground 100% you have to use sand so that the top block will fall back down.
Simple put two pistons with two sand above them, set them up so the bottom one will activate first and deactivate last with an abba switch (I never figured those out...) and you have basically what you are asking for.
(Or gravel.)
Well, obviously. But I'm trying to use non-gravity affected blocks. I could easily just strap a double piston extender onto a pair of sand blocks, but sand/gravel doesn't fit with my color scheme. Thanks for the suggestion though.
There are better solutions, but you can just use the bottom part of a 3x3 door for this.. For example
You can ignore all the wiring and pistons that don't have to do with the bottom part. It won't be flush, but neither are the examples you show in the first post
Funny. I created the first version of that door. Also, yeah, I understand that it's impossible power the upper piston without at least one piece of redstone showing, but I'd rather not have anything else. That one piece I can cover up with the door frame. If I can't think of anything else, I might just go with that.
Also, I just realized my design wasn't flush. I'd have to move that bridge of redstone down a block somehow.
One of the crazy geniuses here might correct me on this but it's my understanding that a sticky piston CAN only pull one block. So your double piston extender would happily extend and push two blocks upwards but only retract one. This is why most people resort to using gravity-obeying blocks.
So your main problem isn't that the wiring is showing, but that you will end up with a block of stone brick that's out of reach of your pistons.
when the double piston extender has pushed both blocks there is another circuit built in so if you are to open it the first sticky piston will grab it and then the first retraction block will grab it and then the double piston extender will fire to get the last block.
I was actually looking for something like this recently (I'm converting a desert temple into a base, and it would look very out-of-place to have a wooden door in the entrance). I figure with all the 3x3 and 2x2 hipster door circuits people make, someone has to have made a compact 1x2 hipster door.
