hello, I have recently entered the amazing and frustrating world of redstone, and i have already created contraptions (my style) I have made a redstone clock (my own design) and a 4 number lock system (also my own design). but now I want to make something new.
so please give me a layout of something to make out of redstone, then I will pick what I think would be cool, and attempt to make it, I will then post it, complete or not, and allow you to rate it.
please leave good suggestions, and something new, or something old, with a twist.

Here are a couple of ideas of various difficulty.
Easy: make a piston elevator
Medium: make a 9 button combo lock
Hard: 9 button combo lock that's order sensitive and locks you out after 3 tries
Extreme: make a 5x5 piston door (a lot harder than it seems)
If you need help with any of these feel free to ask :smile.gif:

isnt a piston door after like 3*3 or so you just use sand for it to fall down once the rest goes up, but the pistons are pushing it up, after all pushed up it ends up switching off and then the pistons? are moved and the sand drops. im not to sure how to explain, complicated stuff >.>
Baby- Make a hidden staircase. Sandbox- Make a note-block song. Piece of cake- Make a advanced minecart storage system. Easy- Make a 7 segment display. Medium- Make a combo self-resetting lock. Hard- Make a RedStone calculator Extreme- Make a RedStone computer. Pro- Make a RedStone computer that functions on mine carts. God- Make a system that will detect what block it is touching, and put that output into a display to be shown in letters.
Easy:Make something that has unlimited power, and don't use redstone torches
Medium:Make a thing that transmits signals to other things
Hard: Make a hidden staircase that turns COMPLETELY into sand

GENERATION 25: The first time you see this, copy it into your sig on any forum and add 1 to the generation.
I'm currently looking for one, but I can't find one, so here goes:
A redstone randomizer that has multiple outputs based on the input. What I mean is I want something where you can enter a value in either binary or just a basic line, and some of 6 outputs turn on randomly, the number turned on based on the input (up to 6). For example, you could enter a value of 4 and it could come out as 011101, then, with only the change of an input to 2, for example, it could come out as 100010. The outputs are totally random except for (obviously) 6, which would (again, obviously) come out as 111111.
Yes sand versions are actually really easy, but the challenge comes in making sandless versions.
And currently, the largest possible sandless piston door is 8x11, CRAZY!
So 5x5 is definitely possible with a a bunch of multiple piston extenders, block storage, timing circuits, and whatnot.
Here's some challenges I came up for you:
Flush seamless 2x2 piston trapdoor (door in the floor)
Flush seamless 3x3 piston door (actually i don't think this one is possible... up to you! good luck.)
A completely FAIR dice (all possibilities have equal chances) [extra challenge make it work in under 3 ticks, I've done it with instant wire before, completely possible!)
Make some games! (Go, sudoku, chess, checkers, monopoly, pong, etc.) some games are harder than others
Autogenerating random maze (this is something I've been working on... trying to get it small. It's also very possible)
10 button lock, with the same inputs as the "set combo" input pad (hit "set combo" button, prompts u to enter current password, then lets you enter new password) Try to make it decode passwords in under 5 ticks, and accept repeating digits (e.g. 1122) For more of a challenge, make it possible to enter different lengths of passwords.
For a REAL challenge: compact everything you make so that it contains less than 30% air
"Flush" means it can be hidden against in the wall/floor so its a flat surface.
"Seamless" means you cannot have ANY redstone revealed (some people include pistons as part of that, but of course it means when its completely opened or closed)
And of course using sand is too easy
I have made a Flush/Seamless 3x3 Piston door. I don't have it for download but it is possible. There is only pistons showing.

Can you use command blocks for stuff like the dice?

even thoue making a redtone computer IS hard, making a calculator is a easy/mediam acording to your scale.
Try making a combo lock where you rotate 8 objects in item frames to the correct location for a door to open.
1. A mini game which has falling sand, forcing you to climb the falling sand to escape out of a hole near the top of the 'cage' (for lack of a better word)
2. An automatic beacon system in a circle in which one beacon is off but the one that is off is rotating around the circle
3. Chess or checkers using things from 1.5 not 1.8+
Make a 5x5 sliding slime block hipster piston door, using no un-pullable objects (meaning terra-cotta isn't allowed) it also has to be seamless and made without observers or sticky pistons.
If you want it to be harder then do it with completely inverted controls (including mouse) and have it take less than 2 minutes to open/close

Impossible: Make a sequential 10 button combo lock with 3 tries every hour that's programmable (push a button that makes you enter the previous code then the new code) that opens a 5x5 seamless hipster door without immovable objects showing if you use slime blocks.

hi
Compare teh difficulty of a 7 seg. display to what follows it.
Medium:Make a thing that transmits signals to other things
Hard: Make a hidden staircase that turns COMPLETELY into sand
its 3x6x7, and i made it this day so its also new.
Also can easily extended from 9 levers in 3x6x7 space to 90 levers in 30x6x7 space.
My challenge?
Pro: make this in less space. :3
(no rly can someome make it in less space)

Three challenges with no specific rating:

2. An automatic beacon system in a circle in which one beacon is off but the one that is off is rotating around the circle

Anyone want a crazy hard challenge?
This will take you a very long time.
