Hi, I have been thinking about how to do this but haven't come across a very good way to do this: How can I make it so when I push a button, a set of pistons will activate after a short delay, maybe 2-3 repeaters, but then instantly shutoff when it stops receiving power? Since the repeaters delay even when it stops receiving power, that's where my problem is, if you understand what I'm saying.
I've been thinking I would probably need a system where a piston would extend to block the current going to the repeaters, and have another redstone circuit leading to the piston, without delay. That way it could instantly shutoff when it stops receiving power. Would this be the best way to do this or is there a better way?
Edit- I have to go for probably 30 mins to an hour to please post any ideas but don't think I'm ignoring you or anything.

Not entirely sure what you are trying to achieve... toggle a piston door on after a short delay, or having the door open for a delayed period of time?
turning off takes a couple ticks, turning on takes more then a second
