Greetings folks! I've come here to pick the brains of the redstone engineers of the world :wink.gif:
My Idea:
To create an entire floor of pistons (facing upward for vertical motion), with Gravel blocks on top of all. Say a 10x10 room, but larger is fine. As long as it is more than two pistons WIDE. (I did that easy)
The Purpose:
To make a 1 block tall room when the lever is ON, which mushrooms will be planted on. No mobs can spawn in the 1 high room when pistons are ON (raised), mushrooms will grow. Harvest is done by switching lever OFF (lowering all pistons) and then running into the now 2 high room and gathering them.
The Problem:
I have absolutely no idea how to get redstone wiring to enable a row of pistons ABOVE it. Can see what I am talking about in the background of the picture. Also, the farthest row of pistons into the room will need to be powered by a second, separate lever. But I think with the initial setup figured out I could work that out.
I'm at your mercy, folks! Thank you for your time :smile.gif:
also, good idea for the mushroom farm, as then you don't need a water harvest
also, maybe try putting glowstone/torches in the wall at the same height of the gravel when mushrooms grow, so the light is blocked when it needs to be, but you can see when harvesting

it's sloopy with the blocks but it works perfectly
<Eagerly waiting with fingers crossed>
Hmm, they are such small pictures I really can't make anything out :sad.gif:

the other guys version is smaller anyway
and tilable :biggrin.gif:
Much easier to create and expand!

Unless your farthest piston gets to be 15 blocks away, which can happen very quickly in a large-scale farm.
you can always throw in a couple repeaters here and there... the 1 or 2 tick lag shouldnt be a problem
