I have tried many many different things for what i am about to show you. I have not developed a method to do this. If you know of one, please let us know.
So:
I have a stack of pistons one on top of each other all faced upward. looking down at it from above you see a 2x4 rectangle; its 6 pistons high and each piston is retracted.
Now develop a system that would allow you to have them all be extended at a push of a button.
I could make one that goes up, but not back down, since that's impossible. Literally impossible, I'm not just saying that. But going up wouldn't be that hard.

thats no im posibale i can have it done by tomorow
Using only the 2x4 rectangle of pistons? Because if so, I'd very much like to see it. If you used other pistons to push it back down, then nice job, but I misunderstood the implied directions, so my apologies for wrongly implying it's impossibility.

i have it done today.
this is only a 1x1 design but it demonstrates how to get 6 pistons back down to a flush stack. however, making this is a 2x4 would be quite a challenge.

Basicly: make a elevator 6 pistons high.
really? that's actually easy, you have the wires every two units up when the first piston pushes the one on top of it the second one is now getting power and pushe the third up which then also gets powered and so on. Make them all sticky pistons and then just develope a system that turns the wire off from the top to the bottom.

Now make it go down, mister redstone genius.

i just have a hard time seeing a 2x4 6 piston high elevator going up AND down. and dont see why u have to have it that way, as seen a 1x1 6 high is very doable. but if someone makes this i would deff love to see it.
2x2x3 piston elevator is easy to make. If you wanna me to make one, just say :smile.gif:
He said make a 2x2x6. Anyone can make a 2x2x3, the challenge is the x6 part.

Ok folks. As mentioned earlier if you have a piston elevator of height greater then 4 it requires 2 sides to go up AND down. After trying many different versions utilization every possible redstone trick i have seen, it is infact impossible to do one for a 2x2x6.

its not impossible. the only design i can think of though, is improbable.
there are still 2 sides visible for each piston. look at it from the corners.
one side of the piston makes it go up, the other goes down. repeat on each corner.
only problem, you cant get out once you go down XD

completely possible for up and down motion.

This can be made much smaller and faster.
it can, this was my first design. it is very crude.
i just wanted a working design
I feel your pain. Usually the first time I make something with redstone it is ridiculously over complicated.
