Okay, I poked around here and tried the search function (which never returns any results, so it must be broken), and I fussed around in Minecraft with hundreds of blocks and redstone, spending about 7 hours on what I thought would be a simple project... and I'm still stumped.
I have a couple of buttons (which are linked to one output) on either side of a multiple piston-operated hiding door. The piston door already works, so it's just a matter of getting the circuit behind the scenes to work the way I want it to.
I want the brief input from a button to trigger an immediate output, then hold that output for a little while longer than the button can stay active, then automatically turn itself off. Effectively: instant on, and a delay before it turns itself off.
How can this be done?
My understanding of electronic circuitry is still very basic, so please keep any help to the "for dummies" level. I do not understand any of the technical jargon on the Minecraft Wiki's article on redstone circuits... and being a visual person, I need pictures and diagrams (half of which are now missing on that page anyway) to understand anything like this.
Please help. This problem has been bugging me all afternoon, and I'd really like some closure.
Well, I think I can figure it out for you. I'll post back in just a little while, but as far as the search thing goes, you need to click the little drop down box on the right hand side and click the respective category you'd like to search.
"This Topic" should be pretty self explanatory, "This Forum" searches the current forum section you're in, and "Fourms" searches the entire forums for your query.

Yes, I tried that, and filtered using that category. No matter what I tried as a keyword, I always got "no results found".
That's why I said the search tool seemed to be broken. Either that, or it's the first time anybody on this forum has ever written the words "delay" or "switch" in this entire Redstone section, which is ludicrously improbable.
Thus, the search is non-functional (for me, at least).

Hmm. I see. That is indeed quite odd. It may be attributed to the recent downtime the servers underwent, due to a hardware failure. I feel pretty bad for them about it, too. Basically as soon as they got everything working again, the hardware broke AGAIN and then when they finally got another one, there was a software issue. All the while, each time they got a new hardware, it had to check all of the hard drives, taking approximately 24 hours between each switch, and between taking it back down to fix the software issue (I think). I kinda feel bad about being mad about it now.

Yeah, I saw the whole thing. I kept trying to get to the redstone stuff on the wiki, so I could try to figure out my many wiring issues.
Speaking of which, I got another one, which is sadly much more complex... and not really that relevant to this topic, so I'll make a new topic to deal with that one.

Hope this helps!
Or if you prefer a 1 block wide solution:

Ah, perfect. That works splendidly. :biggrin.gif:
Thank you very much.
