ok so i downloaded the world from tangos tutorial and got a shcematic for schematica and built the farm block for block (aside from the iron) and it isnt working i did a bit of research and i found that spigot changes minecraft code and redstone ticks etc so i was wondering if there might be someone out there with a working version of the iron phoenix for spigot 1.12.1 if so could you please post a world download or a schematic for 1.12.1 it would be greatly appreciated.
Tango specifically mentioned in the description that it wouldn't work with Spigot. Unfortunately there seems to be little information about why the stacked iron farms (of any design) don't work with Spigot. Sounds like Spigot does some weird chunk loading/unloading things that would completely break stacked village (they'd get merged into one at inopportune times.) I've also noticed that villager AI speed drops significantly when you're more than a dozen or so blocks away from a villager (which is not that much!) so there might also be timing issues involved even if the chunk loading thing isn't the problem.
I have run across a stacked village design that would work in Spigot, unfortunately. Your best bet is just an array of single cells, such as this video: . Much more effort to build than a Phoenix (and only half the villages at that..) but it will definitely work, and unless you're planning to supply iron to a very large number of people, you can probably get away with only building 8-10 cells (in my current world, I built almost my entire base out of iron blocks and I'm only running 4 cells.. I have to afk it once in a while to refill my supplies but not often..)
I can't say there's absolutely no way but if there is one, its either not been found or the finder hasn't made much noise about it.
If its just because villagers are being slow or otherwise different, then there might be a way to work around it (likely by boosting timings significantly.) If its due to chunks being randomly reloaded (which I've heard Spigot does for.. some reason..) and causing the villages to join together just whenever, then it likely won't be fixable unless there's a way to prevent the random reloads.

Yeah Spigot has been doing weird things with stacked villages and nobody really knows why. Your safest bet is to build the induvidual cells, although I think there is a possibilty to make a stacked iron farm.
In 1.10 I built this farm:
Me and a friend of mine made some slight changes to the farm to make it more efficient in Spigot*
The farm worked fine in Spigot 1.10 and 1.11, but since 1.12 it broke. I am still not sure why, but if you update your server while the iron farm was still working, it would still be working in 1.12. As soon as you reset the iron farm however, it breaks again adnd creates one big village.
When I read Altrag's reply I got curious and currently I am testing if its indeed due to villager AI that the farm does not work correctly. Ill post back once that test has finished.
