I'm trying to put a jump-scare in a map I'm making as a joke and I'm using a /testfor command to check if I player is one a certain block but it doesn't work. Here's the command I'm using: testfor @p {x:339,y:6,z:-589,r:1}
It didn't work, the command you gave me is the same as the one I also used originally, when I tested it the command block out put said that "Entity '@p[x=339,y=6,z=-589,r=1]' cannot be found" So I put a space in between "@p" and the rest of the command and it said "Expected '{' but got '['" so I replaced the square brackets and it then is said that it wanted ":" not "=" so I did that and wound up with the command I originally posted, I went through this whole process before I posted the thread, anyway when I tested it with the final command it said: "Computernaut did not match the required data structure".
Sorry to say, but I have no clue what a "target selector argument" is. I copied and pasted this command from a map and input my own coordinates. I'm not much of a command expert, I can do things like tp, spawnpoint, and some basic titles but most other things I get from either maps or command generators such as minecraft.tools.
I'm still having a problem. I tried a clock circuit (I think that's what it's called) and a normal command block but it still didn't work, also I wanted to have sound and even though the sound command block is right behind the players head it says they're too far away. Help?
As ShelLuser mentioned,
You can use a repeating command block instead of the redstone signal, it's a lot easier. (1.9+)
When you're in the command block menu, press 'redstone input' button until you get to repeat. It's the purple command block.
I was using a repeating command block and then I got the impression that I should use a normal one, should I post a screen shot of what I currently have? The idea is that if you step on a certain block then you get teleported, but when I go on the block nothing happens.
It didn't work, it says: "[16:56:10] Selector '@a[x=339,y=6,z=-589,r=1]' found nothing". So I put a space after "@a" and it said "Please specify which player you would like to perform this action on".
But there was, I stood there and had another player press a button that activated the command you gave and I was there the whole time there was a redstone signal going to the command block.

Just curious, that's all.

So if I use a normal command blocks with one of those repeater things it'll work?

Thanks! I'll try that.

I'll see if I can post an explanatory picture/screenshot.

Here's the above-mentioned explanational picture.
