I was going to make something like this, but when I used /entitydata to edit the motion tags of the Minecart, trying to ride in it would teleport the player to 0 0 0

Why use advanced commands for a concept this simple? I am just testing for an active hotbar slot in the players Inventory and teleporting the minecart in the direction the hotbar slot represents. The reason it is going this fast, is because I am using a rapid redstone clock to teleport the minecart 1 block at the time, which equals 23 blocks per second.

Never make it more advanced than it needs to be!
I just figured the motion could be a bit smoother this way, but yeah, sometimes I try too hard to make everything exactly how I want it

Well, the command to edit the motion of EntityData is very simple (And fixed, editing the motion of minecarts while players are in them will no longer bug out). This is the command: /entitydata @e[type=MinecartRideable] {Motion:[0.0,0.0,0.0]}. You can edit the numbers according to the direction.
This is actually much more simple than teleporting the Minecart, as you don't need any commands checking for walls and all that other stuff. Unless, of course, you want a super magic Minecart Racecar that can go through walls.

Thank you for your tip. You are correct when you say that using /entitydata is much easier than what I did in this concept, but the problem is that this version would make the "car" much slower. So in order to get peoples attention, I made this concept using /tp because it is simply much faster.
I have to say this is an awesome creation but I have something you can consider for this car as I'm sure you will be updating it.For this car you need to rethink your controls like update them you have you x,y,z blocks for controlling were you are travelling still. But what I would love to see if a power pedal that lets you edit your speed if you could do this it would be awesome.
I agree, but I do not have time to update any concept at the moment as I am working on a PvP map. I have all the redstone in place, but I still need to make some arenas for the players to fight in.
I think it would also be completely possible to make the minecart go upwards. You should make it so you can lift off and then control yourself in air.
It would be nice if this car could do that, and I am sure there is a way to do this. However, I am busy making a PvP map at the moment, so for the time being this concept will have to stay the way it is.

It would be, but maybe another redstoner will make this concept multiplayer friendly?
Thank you!
