Oh noes, not another annoying ' oh yeah im tiny so you can't hit me LOL I eat your knees now... If you had knees! llolololololololololoolololol' mob. And off endermen too? In comes the Great Ender Farm Crashing Update!
Best dismantle mine... Or just push them into the void with pistons...
I THOUGHT OF A WORK-AROUND PPLS!
On occasion. Is less money more? While the endermite may be entirely random, I could see some uses for it. I think it's just for making enderman hunting a lot harder.
Dinnerbone said he has an ultimate plan with the endermites and it could have something to do with the dragon egg.
then what's the point of these mites dropping from them then?, endermen never teleport often enough for the endermites to be a threat.
When you look at them they will often teleport to you. Then once they are hit they sometimes teleport again. Most of the time it will be behind you. I would say that could be very dangerous.
Obviously they don't see anyone's suggestions, and it was more of a cynical take on my statement. I know they haven't see any of my suggestions or took their idea from it. I was giving my input that I've suggested similar things, but this was an idea that had gone in what into what I think is the wrong direction.
As of right now at least they will make leeches for my swamp in my adventure map
So the endgrinder on our server won't break, awesome.
But dawn is now Endermite Time. If endermites drop from teleporting endermen, and every dawn they stutter-teleport all over the map desperately trying to escape the sun...tiny purple bugs are gonna be all over the landscape every morning.

Dinnerbone suggested that the mites have something to do with the ender dragon egg. Maybe we'll have to capture mites or their meat to feed the dragon so that it will grow?
Despite being a modified silverfish, this seems like a pretty cool mob. Also, earlier people were talking about Endermite 'lore' and how Endermen are/are not evil, so here's my take on it
Endermites are parasites native to the End, first created when several Silverfish fell into an end portal. They live on endermen, feeding off of them, and the only way to shake them off is via teleportation. Therefor, endermen often teleport to shake them off, then kill them.
Endermen aren't evil, I agree with that. In my own opinion, they were once players like you, who were either native to the End when it was still the Skylands, or are fallen adventurers that were slain by the dragon. They're enslaved to forever serve the dragon, and the dragon's grand plan is for the Endermen to use overworld blocks to create more endstone to expand the End, until she can amass an army to take over the Overworld. Of course, Steve has something to say about that... And, they attack when you stare at them because of a 'leave no witnesses' policy. Endermen mistake you for golems when you wear a pumpkin, which is why they won't attack you.

the coolist part in my opinion is that for the first time in mc histroy 2 monsters/evil mobs hate eachother!!! srlsy...endermen kill endermites
when normal both will attack...but when to gether the endermite dies XD
Personally I use enderfarms myself, but srsly the flood of tears if "endermites" were a thing that broke the farms it would be glorious. This community always blows things out of proportion.
Nope, it isn't.
I tried both triggering them in survival and with flint and steel, and nope, this isn't real.
Yep, I guess. It did say on mojang.com that they had updated mob AI!
I can confirm that it's actually true. It's only a small chance it seems; spam a bunch of creepers and then ignite one in the center. A few will run away.
It isn't a bad idea, but it should just be when you're on hard mode or something. Otherwise, there would be EVEN MORE complaints about this update. And then everyone would be driven crazy.
Or maybe just very rarely? Or maybe only from a certain kind of tree?

Well, just recently, wolves - even wild ones - kill skeletons. Wild wolves are neutral mobs like Endermen - not quite as "monster-like", but still two potentially hostile mobs fighting.

Given that all the endermen would immediately attack the mites, I doubt it'll have a big effect on well-built farms.

I'm very surprised someone like Lefty hasn't stormed in and started hating on this new feature that people may be able to use.
On topic, I like the concept, but I don't really like the fact that Mojang quite literally copy & pasted the Silverfish model with a different texture. I'm made models before & it doesn't take that long to make a new model.

It's possible it could be a placeholder, though this is just speculation. The proposal for the Endermite usage hadn't been discussed with by other Mojang team members, so there may be a wait before they go too far with it.
Docm77 actually made what might be the most awesome, cheap, and efficient Enderman farm ever using an Endermite as bait. It is named to prevent despawning. Speaking of which, Endermites apparently despawn 2 minutes after being spawned in.
These will not crash enderfarms. Read post #23.

Currently unknown and unimplemented, but concerns the dragon egg. Regardless, they are not meant to affect enderman farms:

Well at least they aren't just creating another useless albeit annoying to kill mob, like the bat.
When fighting the player, they use cheesey tactics, and teleport away frequently.

Re texture a blaze into a "blizzard", snowballs instead of fireballs.. Yes please
Endermites added in full version 1.8...
