Poll: To show things off, would spectator mode be considered cheating?
When I'm showing of the builds in my survival world I'm often tempted to go into creative mode just to get a good view on it. However, I have to abstain becouse it would discredit the survival aspect of my world.
As said above. In your eyes, is spectator mode cheaty?
You cannot obtain spectator mode without OP. If you had OP to begin with, you already had access to creative. So essentially nothing has changed for multiplayer, where OPs can use what they have access to. In survival, players do go into creative for showing off builds with flight, and spectator mode would just have the noclip advantage. People will call you out if they must, but it's really up to you what to do!
I consider creative mode, spectator mode, and peaceful mode to be cheating. I also feel that survival mode where you have access to cheats is not a true survival mode. That being said, I am a wuss and won't even step foot in the nether without peaceful mode on.

This obviously.

In any single player world you have the option to turn on cheats when opening lan. I never use it other than when a new friend wants to join me and I teleport him to my base because its several thousand blocks away from spawn, but I'm often tempted to turn flight on when showing off my work.
if your using it so you can clip through the world to find dungeons, diamonds, etc - then it would be a form of cheating... kinda sucks that you need op to use it for mp though - would be fun to spectate from a creeper while he hunts down a friend.
It really doesn't matter. Minecraft has no rules, in a sense. If you want to use spectator mode, use it. If you don't, don't. Nobody really cares, unless of course your on a server and not OP. It really is what you see that is cheaty. I personally don't feel that spec. mode is cheaty, but that's my opinion. Your opinion may be different.
Not really 'cheaty', as you can't place or obtain or place blocks in this mode. It just lets you travel through walls and grants the ability that you get from looking through glowstone.
As long as you don't build anything in spectator mode or use spectator mode to aid in your building (Besides getting an arial view), it doesn't take away from the legitness of the build.
No it isn't. Cheating is only when you get an unfair advantage against other people, but since you can't have creative and spectator in multiplayer without an admin giving it to you, there's no other way you can use it against other players. And well of course that in singleplayer it can't be considered cheating because you're alone and you can play minecraft the way you want, its a sandbox game after all, that means you can play itin any kind of way you want because you're almost completely free in every way.
Also I think 1.7 has an option to lock the world's gamemode so you can't change it if you feel tempted.

Let's stop looking for leprechauns, alright? I feel like we are scrapping the bottom of the IQ barrel with these threads.
In multiplayer though, its most certainly a cheat, and should be treated as such.
