All of today I have been looking for a skin editor like NovaSkins (what I previously used to make skins)
that is updated. I cannot find any, I know it is soon to be looking for one but I want to experiment with the new format. I would do it with Paint.net or Paint but I am just not good at editing skins like that. Does anyone know of any editing sites like NovaSkin that are updated? Much appreciated!

Wildfire, I think if you look up "new skin format" on google you can look. You get a pretty good example of the new skin format if you accidentally put a villager skin on. Here's the link:
the new format I agree this will bring more people
Umm.. no, that is not the new format.. The new one looks a lot different.. Plus the "hat" part is used for the whole body (meaning you can have watches, necklaces, and all sorts of added details)
This is how the new skin layout looks with my new skin..
[ABOVE image] New skin front and back [BELOW image] The skin layout (size multiplied by 4, original size 64x64)
NOTE: The image of the full minecraft player with new skin is a bit buggy (those weird lines between the body and the legs) since i uploaded it to the database via the minecraft profile page, the problem may be with the new database migration.. The skin layout is right, as it works perfectly in offline mode with the skin in a custom resource pack that overrides the steve.png

Can I borrow that skin of yours? Because, I can't find any skin editors with the, quote, "new skin format"

I HAVE AN ANNOUNCEMENT TO MAKE! There is in fact a new skin editor for ONE POINT EIGHT AS OF A FEW WEEKS AGO. OF COURSE, NONE OF US NOTICED. HERE'S THE LINK: http://www.needcoolshoes.com/ HAVE FUN!!
use needcoolshoes.com it lets you edit the individual parts of the skin (Legs, body, head, arms) and also has the ability to add the 1.8 overlays. it gives you a 3D model of your skin too. If you hit export you can download the skin or upload it directly to minecraft.net

I'm just a Minecraft player that likes to give my opinion. Nothing special to see here.
Here's the link:
Minecraft 14w03a Feature List - New Skin Format, Clone and Copy ...
It will show you. Trust me. and also, dont wear a villager skin. it looks creepy.
well, have a nice day!
