Grum's immense amount of work on the rendering engine finally fixed the transparency bug. You can now see transparent objects through other transparent objects, which ended Dinnerbone's hatred of adding in new transparent blocks like this. It's quite a good day.

No colored light. Unfortunately that would require reworking of the lighting engine to even begin to support. That may come, but not yet.
I'm guessing the same way you craft colored clay.
