I truly can't believe how ungrateful this community is. First people would constantly nag about how they even hard mode was too easy and they had to use lots of mods and custom maps to make it hard again and now that Minecraft has become a little thougher people think it's too hard.
Could you guys just make up your minds up for once? Just make it clear what you want so you don't get what you don't want and complain even more, because Mojang does listen to the community.
I do agree with the excess in zombies, that's a hell but the rest?

It's been this way for a long time. It's like the old saying: You can please some of the people some of the time, but you can't please all of the people all of time. Of course it's no excuse, people should be happy Mojang continues to add content, while in other games they release it, and only make like 3 updates to fix bugs.
Consumers don't know what they want until it is presented to them.
Zombies spawning other zombies in the player's field of vision is just a head scratcher. Heck, the entire concept had me confunkled beyond belief. Maybe this would work in a zombie game when the number of zombies around every corner is in the hundreds, but when you only see five or so zombies in a desert, attack one and see a few more pop out of thin air? Yeah, you can tell that it's poorly executed and just doesn't fit in at all.
It's not hard though. It's just annoying. Zombies were supposed to be the most pathetic mobs and they still are. They are not like the super fast Zombie Pigmen. I should keep my mouth shut, I don't want them to raise their speeds.

My thoughts in general. I'm still thankful for the change, though, because regardless it's a small step in the right direction and Minecraft has been going in the wrong direction since 1.0 was released.

Did something happen to you in your childhood to give you this unreasonable fear of rutabaga?

First of all, it's not like "the community" is a single person. Before 1.6, there were some people who thought the game was too easy, and there were some people who thought it was just right. There were even some people who thought it was too hard. So don't yell at the community for having different opinions.
Second, it is completely possible to overcompensate, which is what I think Dinnerbone did. It's not at all inconsistent for people to complain that a change made the game too hard. And the solution is easy: dial back the changes. The game was too easy; Dinnerbone made it harder; now the game is too hard; obviously there is a point in the middle which would be correct.
And finally, I don't think that many people are saying it's too hard now. The people who are complaining are saying that it's tedious and annoying. It's not fun to fight wave after wave of zombies. There are plenty of other games to play if that's what you want to do. Minecraft's appeal has never been grinding monsters for xp, and it's foolish to try and turn Minecraft into that kind of game.

I think you are going to love my Survival Let's Play series on YouTube! It's called Spaceboot1's Garden. I make pretty things.
The problem is that a lot of people seem to want the game to be more challenging, however they don't want anything to threaten their precious in-game base and resource grinders that, if destroyed, they would cry over IRL for days.
Frankly I think a more challenging game = a more fun game.
It isn't even really that it is that much harder as much as it is just annoying.
If anything It is actually a bit easier since all you need to do is plop a block down in front of your door and *EXPLOSION NOISE* instant zombie grinder.
Course I don't start out by just running blindly into the night with a wooden sword. I tend to secure a base, plant crops, gather livestock and craft at least iron armor before I even consider serious exploration. Usually taking with me enough supplies to set up a nice temporary shelter should the need arise.
I find Minecraft too hard. In 1.5.2, I can handle, no problem. Now it's frustrating. Zombies have a radius of 40m.
Now zombies are too hard. I am going to have to make a mod to nerf the zombies back to 1.5.2.
I've actually been thinking about adding a conditional to the zombie AI so they only have a stupid OP detection range during either the new or full moon (not sure which). I think the swarming might not be as obnoxious if it wasn't an every day thing.
Problem is there is only so much you can do with two active hostile mobs. We really need more.
To the OP: your argument is nonsense because it's based on a myth that people act as a single unit, with a single opinion, and a single point of view.
In fact, during EVERY release, some people say it's too hard, and then others brag about how easy it is. This is normal.
This notion that "everyone else thinks one way universally, and I'm the only guy thinking different" is ridiculous, even if it makes the poster feel smarter than everyone else for 30 seconds. Then reality should be setting in.

Don't forget that a group of people is made up of individuals. I highly doubt that the same person complains about the game being too easy and then complains about it being too hard once the difficulty goes up. When you treat a group as diverse as the Minecraft playerbase as a single voice with a single opinion you are bound to get strange results like this.
You simply can not please everyone, there will always be people who are unhappy with the current state of the game, no matter what state it is in.

Unfortunately this does seem to be the case. The usual complainers, the same people who frequently roam and create threads regarding how the new update sucks, how Jeb sucks and how the terrain sucks are now spitting threads out like crazy regarding this update.
I agree with you guys about the zombies, I already stated in the OP it sucks, but what about the other changes?

At any rate, this (the zombie thing), in my opinion, would be kinda fun every once in a while (You know, I'm wandering around at night, just like any other night, and then boom, zombies everywhere! It would be kinda fun), or perhaps to a lesser degree, because right now it is a tad annoying when I am trying to do other things at night (not like I ever use beds eh?) but I think it is a cool idea to build on to.
Problem is that changes don't depend on difficulty:
Skeletons shoot as fast on easy as in hard, (From 1.5)
Zombies are as anoying on easy as in hard,
Golden apples and health potions are weaker and more expensive in both easy and hard.
Baby zombies are as common on easy as in hard.
Before hard was easy and easy bit easier, now easy is anoying and and hard is bit harder than in 1.4.

We crawled through dirt and blood and sand to achieve our glorious victory... Not for medals, or glory ...But for what was right.

Blue had many funny features that made the game both very easy and hard.
