Changing the minecraft launcher over to your nvidia card should do the trick, it's working for everyone else I've told who has nvidia. You might have done it wrong. Do this: Right click the new minecraft launcher. Hover your cursor over "Run with graphics processor". In that, select "Change default graphics processor". Once this window is open, select the "Global" tab near the top of the window. Then, change it from "Integrated Graphics" to your nvidia card.
I don't see a Run with graphics processor option in the menu but I was able to change Minecraft through the Nvidia control panel, no luck.
*Edit: Well after some tweaking I was able to get the Run with graphics processor option to show up. It was enabled in the Nvidia control panel but needed to be refreshed for some reason.
Thanks for the help, thanks to you I have increased my fps by a factor of 10. Have a diamond , or two .
So, with 1.6.1, I get 0-30 FPS, while with 1.5.2 I get 60-100 HELP?
My specs are as follows:
AMD Athlon 64 x2 Dual Core Prossessor 4200+ 2.21 GHz
4.00 GB of Ram
AMD Radeon HD 6450 Grapics card
2 100GB Hardrives.
If anyone could help me it would be appreciated, thanks
I dont have a nvida graphics card, so how would I do it? I tried the way you stated in the posts before, but there is no option for that. What do you suggest?
This is really strange because before the new launcher i had 30-40 FPS and that was fine. Now i get around 140-150 FPS!
I play on an iMac version 10.6.8 Intel
I have not seen anyone else have the same performance boost... is it just me?
- Update graphics card
- Installed latest Java version
- Lowest minecraft settings
- Set priority to high for jawaw.exe
- Uninstalled java and minecraft and reinstalled them.
I used to play on medium settings in 1.5.2 and hit about 80-90 fps, and at the lowest, it would be almost 200. When i got the launcher, I hit 10 fps at my original settings and 30 fps on lowest. Please help. I really want to play like I did a few days ago.

Okay what are we missing? I have Windows 7 64bit, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 Ti. I have no "Run with graphics processor" option when right-clicking the launcher, and cannot get the "GeForce Experience" control panel to even acknowledge Minecraft exists. My husband has Windows 7 64bit, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560, no "Run with graphics processor" option, no Minecraft on the control panel. We both updated to 320.49 today. I've looked through every option, everything i can find, but am finding nothing in regards to this.
Same noticeable lag here as well. I still have the old launcher and the old magic launcher and they run just fine. Starting the game from the new launcher drops my fps to a crawl. Mac user here.

i got the same problem here. PC user. I miss the old launcher where i could run 125 fps at the highest settings now run about 15 on those with the new launcher.
If you are right clicking the launcher and you do not see this option, no worries. All this means is you don't have Nvidia, which is the dedicated graphics card I use. What kind of graphics card do you use? I might be able to find a solution for it.
Actually I do have an NVidia card, but I suspect what you're seeing is when the NVidia controller is installed in the OS, it adds the right-click menu options. I have a pre-built system that has the NVidia control centre but not the right-click options.
ok after updating my 512x512 resourcepack im still getting high fps no lag here is a screenshot so you can see. still need to do the new blocks. but i dont get the lag everyone is saying.
When you say you updated, do you mean you updated to the latest drivers? If not, update to the latest Nvidia drivers, first of all. Go to this link: http://www.nvidia.co...aspx?lang=en-us and do the automatically scan for drivers option. But anyway, In the control panel, go to the "Global" tab near the top of window, and just a little down from that change "Preferred graphics processor:" from auto-select to your Nvidia one. Hope this helps.
I said we updated yesterday, meaning it is the newest driver, the release date was June 25th. What control panel? Where is "Global?" There is nothing like that on the NVIDIA control panel (NVIDIA GeForce Experience, came with the newest driver update), which does not list Minecraft anyway. Even when i navigate to the old style NVIDIA control panel, there is no "Global," there is no Minecraft. Nor is there any "Global" or Minecraft on my system's control panel. I know you're trying to help people, but i cannot find anything you're talking about.
Go down to the windows menu in the bottom left, in the search bar, search "NVIDIA Control Panel" open it, select the global tab near the top of the mini window within the bigger window (it's like a box within the window), change "Preferred Graphics Processor" from auto-select to "NVIDIA High Performance" or whatever yours might be called. Then, click apply at the bottom of the window.
Okay... i said in my last post, that you quoted: "Even when i navigate to the old style NVIDIA control panel, there is no "Global,"..."
Apparently whatever it is you have on your system is different from what either of us have on ours. I give up, we'll just wait for someone else to post a fix.
I have this problem too so I have to use my Nvidia card for Minecraft. However, many people have laptops with only an integrated graphics card. I used to run Minecraft with 60fps on my Intel GPU. There is no fix for this issue at the moment. I want to run Minecraft with my Intel card which is more power efficient rather than my power hungry Nvidia GPU.

They could still have Nvidia, they just have the "Run with graphics processor" option turned off, because it is an option if you go into the Nvidia Control Panel. He can go to his Start menu, and search for Nvidia Control Panel, and it will pop up and he can change his default processor from there

adding more ram won't make much difference unless minecraft is using more than you assigned,
apparently it's a bug and HOPEFULLY it will be fixed,
mojang is usually quick to do these things so it'll probably be soon

was that supposed to be sarcastic?
No need to act like a complete a hole to everyone, I was just happy I finally found a solution to my lag
