So that's the things and stuff probably. This really should've been for the regional difficulty. The beginning part of the game is fine, I would rather more endgame difficulty.
As if those things weren't annoying enough... Oh well, it's still not as annoying as rapid-fire skeletons. But invisible spiders are going to be a real pain.
Unless you are surrounded by 10 of them and you have no armor, I really can't see how anyone would have any difficulty with vanilla mobs. If you say 'oh beginners still have trouble with mobs', when I was beginning it wasn't difficult to figure out that if you swing your sword a lot that stuff has a hard time getting to you, unless you consider skeletons, but that's really the only exception. I do find it interesting that spiders do this though but I can't really see it making it more 'challenging'.
Oh my, this is so dangerous. The problem with this is the new nerfs.
Spiders can now have:
Strength (only adds +1 [half a heart] of damage now instead of 3)
Regeneration (halved, barely noticeable)
Invisibility (pretty good if you don't notice them)
Speed (can't run now)
Was just starting a hardcore world... Had barely started when this killed me:
This guy had some strength effect and he killed me in 2 hits. I was rather saddened by this.. as you see my completely unused bow I had just crafted. :\
This must be incredibly rare. I havn't seen a single one of these guys and this update has been out for... about 3 weeks. Either I've just been really lucky or I'm in for a really bad surprise next time I'm out at night.

When are they going to actually implement new mobs with better AI and attacks rather than buffing the starting mobs to be able to take end-game players on, screwing over starting players in the process?
Turned out to be true. I don't know the chances, nor all the potion effects.

I'm still torn between whether I find being chased by Spiders or floating glowing red eyes more frightening.
Exactly how I feel. This would've been a perfect trait for stronger spiders in regional difficulty.
