It's a stupid joke that I really wish they would stop making. All it does is fuel the Herobrine retardation on these forums.
I disagree. The Herobrine legend is great fun. It's conspiracy theory for pre-teens. My two young sons debate the existence of Herobrine on a regular basis, seemingly switching sides of the debate from one conversation to the next. It's like this: why must they say they "removed" him if he really was never in the game. And, since they have "removed" him before, have they really accomplished a removal of Herobrine this time?
I happened to start up Minecraft this A.M. before the boys were even up out of bed to get ready for school. As he woke up, I showed my nine year old the features list that states "removed Herobrine." As he read the list, his jaw about hit the floor and he turned to look at me with a WTF look on his face. It's a legend better than Santa Claus or The Great Pumpkin. It costs nothing and and only adds harmless fun and mystery to an already outstanding gaming experience.
So as of the new 1.5 update, Herobrine has apparently been removed. What does this mean for us fellow minecrafters??!!

It just started out as a dumb "creepypasta"-type story, but then the legend began to grow around the community, where as we know is fake but is still fun to joke around and make things from the legend of Herobrine.
It only gets old when people start talking serious like they actually believe in it or trying to fool others. I think it's somewhat funny that Mojang keeps putting it in the patch notes. He's like a bug they have to keep removing because people still believe it exists.

I tried it with terrible results. I gave my wife my glasses for a second, a creeper showed up and now my wife is pregnant.

Herobrine was a hoax. He is not real, never was real, and never will be real.
