I just was over at The Escapist, and saw an aritcle that (Jeb just posted on twitter) they are playing with a block idea where you can "program" a block with redstone signals! Given the proper signals, diferent effects are possible, but the article I read focused on granting the player with various ingame rewards like items or Exp. But can you imagine if you could program them to teleport other blocks from one place to another, or program them to repell or attract a certain type of mob? THE. EFFING. POSSIBILITIES.
These blocks will send a server command when a redstone signal is recieved. Like setting the time of day, giving players xp or items, changing the weather, teleportation, and hopefully controling saveing of thelevel to set up proper check points

I can't wait to combine this block with WorldEdit.
I'm looking forward to seeing an adventure map where you obtain an objective and the next area just materializes out in the wilderness, pasted into position from a schematic file via a WorldEdit command.

The Internet is a big place, friend. I've been places you've n͍̺e̩v̦e̦̰͍͓̩ͅr̜̭̝̬̬͉̤̬ ͙ịm̖͇a͍͇̤͙̥g̤̘i͔͖̤̼̪̬n͖͔̳̬̯e̩̘ḓ͈͔̠̙͇̼̯.͎
I Have 2 good uses for this...
1. A anti greifing machine which could be hooked up to a bud switch when the block is broken it could trigger a ban. but there is a flaw how would you get the name.
2. If you always want it to be day you could hook up /time set 0 to a day/night sensor.
I like how they added this but still they need to add more blocks
In adventure maps when you complete a challenge it could give you a certain item...
These are my thoughts on the new "programmable" block.
