Reason of most bugs: You have a slow computer and you blame mojang because of it.
I play the snapshots and have no problems. If you don't want internet lag, play offline.
Nope, I have a fast computer and I played offline. My fps is similar to before the merging (60+-), although I get more drops and lag, and playing 1.2.5 and then the lastest snapshot I saw many differences and many glitches. So it is that bad and I really doubt singleplayer will ever be as good as it was before the merging. They might fix some stuff but I'm sure 1.3 won't be so different than 12w25a, seeing how many problems in the 1.2 Anvil snapshots was stil in 1.2.3...
Destoryed? Just because it has some multiplayer bugs and glitches doesn't mean its destroyed. Although you say your not ranting, you acually are. Your exagerating way much. I play multiplayer alone, just like single player, just because i enjoy the time-to-time conversations, the /home, other than that its practicly singleplayer to me.
The conserns about single player are valid and single player is a lot better without any muiltiplayer server components. The developers have admitted that currently single player is using more resources then it should due too running a server. In other words quit trying too label other peoples computers as being not good enough for minecraft. It's the same nonsence i see on every other gaming website when a lot of players are experiencing a bad update that suddenly lags up their games. Players with legitment complaints come to the forums and the fans who probably haven't even tried the update say "its your computer etc" when pre-patch that person had no damn issues!
1.2.5 we can run singleplayer with high FPS. In the snapshot and if this goes live as is we will be suffering from lag directly caused by shoddy server code. You know how we know its shoddy? because it LAGS IN LAN MODE. You never get lag on a lan server unless the codes borked. Get it??? The update is not ready and singleplayer shoulden't use any shoddy server code so long as this is the case.
All of you saying don't worry it will be fixed. Your not psychic and you don't know. If we was too judge Mojang by previous experience with their bug fixing of muilti-player then we can expect months more of this lag and muiltiplayer bugs. Thats the reality. Of course i don't expect the muilti-player only players too acknowledge the reality of the situration and the messed up of single player as they don't give a damn about single player or anyone who plays it. Thats the crux of this minecraft issue.
This is just going to turn into another version of "Mojang ruined the game when they...".
My answer to those who point out Mojang's past history with bug fixing is to compare how many people are working on the game now as to then. Remember that not to long ago there were at most two people working on the game at a time, and look ant how much has gotten done since Jeb took over. Not to mention, that they have acknowledged the issues with SSP, so they know what the problem is. Why would they not fix them now? They affect almost everyone who plays the game.

Why wouldn't multi-player only people care? They've been dealing with these issues longer than the SSP crowd.

You have a bad computer, you should have no reason of lag when on a fast computer.
So strange. Every snapshot I play has NO LAG whatsoever.
I honestly can't see the issue, and many people reporting lag have better computers than I do.

Oh, you mean like they did with SMP for the last 3 years?
And guess why that is? Yep, because SSP has gotten all the attention instead.
SSP players: If you have information about bugs and such, go let the people at Mojang know. Otherwise either wait till the 1.3 release to see how things are or just suck it up.

A lot of people have actually experienced significantly fewer bugs and increased fps with the new snapshots. Mobs are less glitchy and "ghost mobs", don't exist in the latest snapshots for many people.
In other words the OP's experience is not typical and the snapshots are only going to improve in quality as we get closer to 1.3.
I haven't had any issues besides sound lag. Also it is not destroyed at all for me seeing as how I had a pretty good time playing single player, for the first time in a while, for about four hours then the next day maybe a little bit less. I had really no problems at all playing the snapshot and enjoyed it a lot.
Yeah welll a lot of people don't give a damn about SMP. Personally I wouldn't even care if they removed SMP. That would fix this merge problem. If they had no dodgy SMP this merge wouldn't have happened.
I have to say that I'm not really having too many problems with the latest snapshot either. Is there some lag? Yes, but frankly I didn't think it was that bad. I have sticky-key problems that are about the same as they always were. The occasional rubber banding is annoying but not so bad. The thing is, as so many others have stated, this is a snapshot, not an actual release, so I wasn't expecting perfection. I just like taking the new model out, running it around the block a few times, tuning it up... You get the picture.
Am I the only one not having any issues with the snapshots? Hell, even my redstone contraptions work flawlessly. I find this doom and gloom attitude to be really annoying, frankly.
It's very, very different among different players. There are some that have been unaffected, but the majority are having issues of varying severity. Some can play, but have a few screwy issues.... some CANT play whatsoever. As in my case, it seems my game world just blew itself straight to hell because "ZOMG SERVER ERROR-PROBLEM-CRASH-DERP". When there is, of course, NO SERVER, due to it being a bloody single-player game.
I love Minecraft, but I've found myself ignoring it in favor of damn near anything else due to the terrible server crap.
I should also point out: Mojang kinda has a history of NOT FIXING THINGS. Alot of the bugs in SMP (and some in SSP) have been there for a really long time, and never got fixed.
The part where they're suddenly going "Hey everyone, let's talk about the mod API now!!!!" without having fixed the extremely numerous issues that the screwball server thing created, is not a good sign.
I have great respect for Notch, Jeb, and everyone at Mojang, but some of this is getting downright silly lately.
Why can nobody see the long term benefits of this? It will be so much easier for Mojang to optimise, introduce new content or code and so on that the game will end up faster anyway.. Sure the faults of both versions are going to be thrown together and deposited at what you assume is the bottom of Mojang's priorities (SSP) but in any event it could hardly be of any help to rush to the forums and beat the rest of the internet to an agonising, torturous death with your faux-sensationalist spin on what is really quite a short term issue..

im playing a new world in the latest snapshots in SP, I think it plays great. I don't know what all the complaining is about. I love the new 1.3 features and being able to invite your wife/kids/friends into your map sounds like great fun.
Fun fun fun! Keep up the amazing work Mojang!

Yes, it is.
Single player is in no way destroyed.
I never play multiplayer, I always do single player.

Then dont answer a single-player-focused question.
I dont give a damn about multiplayer, so..... it works both ways.
