Since it seems to be so difficult for people to figure out how to put the minecraft.jar in their .minecraft folder, I made a program to do it for you.
Simply run it, make sure MC isn't running, locate the minecraft.jar you downloaded, then it will ask if you want to backup your current minecraft.jar. If you do, press yes, and if you don't, press no. Then it will try to update minecraft, and will tell you the result.
You must be using Windows(Tested on Windows 7 and XP) and have the .NET Framework installed.

I am not responsible for anything bad that happens to your Minecraft, or your computer.(But nothing permanent should occur)
Clearer documentation with pictures will be done if there is need for it.
I didn't upload pictures mostly because I didn't feel they were needed, as the program consists of message boxes. It has no unique interface, as I designed it to be simple as possible. But, if you feel the need for pictures, whatever... I will upload them somewhere.
What good is a picture of a jar loading program?
Does the fact that the OP showed you a success window validate this as a real program?
Seriously, get over yourselves.
Sorry if we don't want to download something that could easily be a waste of time or even worse, a virus, without question. Pictures show us that this is actually worth looking into.

I've been a Minecraft player since Beta 1.7, still my favorite game!

I updated the top post with Pictures, and a link to the program's code. If that isn't enough, feel free to decompile it.

That was less of an accusation to you and more of an explanation to Awesomebob.
