1) There's generally only one, and I highly doubt you'll get 8 obsidian right away.
2) What did I do to attack you? Being analytical about your argument doesn't mean I'm insulting you. I'm just being through.
3) And yet I'm someone who just doesn't want it changed in general. Just add in that option.
4) They should read more carefully instead of skewing the votes.
5) Explain to me just how much this degrades the experience for someone just starting. Someone who just starts Minecraft will hardly have the entire wiki memorized. Why should they specifically set out for the chest?
6) Maybe somebody doesn't want mobs to get in the way of their redstone contraption but still wants to play on normal. By enforcing that change, you're locking people out.
7) That just adds tedium to the chest, not difficulty.
8) Making a counter argument is not the same as "slamming" someone.
9) I'm starting to think that what's really happening here is that you're making yourself out as the victim being preyed upon by these big bullies when all that's happening is we're debating your points with our own.
1) Even if I don't, it only takes like 20 minutes to find diamonds.
2) Hence the attack/disrespect instead of just attack, and you have done it with a bunch of posts.
3) I kind-of already did.
4) You didn't try it... Did you?
5) It removes a lot of the exciting elements of mining, and therefore, it makes people that are new to the game a lot less able to share in the excitement/fun that I have experienced when barely making it out of the mine alive, and stuff like it. No, they probably will not put that much in when they are just starting out, but after a wile they will read the wiki, and find out about these things, and there minecraft will lose something. They probably wont, but they will make it eventually.
6) Well, then maybe they should enclose/light there redstone contraption, it isn't that hard, and what do the mobs do to redstone anyways.
7) We already discussed this.
8) But you have said offensive thing to a lot of the people who share my opinion.
9) Perhaps that is what has happened, it is not intentional, but to some degree it is true, not to the extent that you are implying here, but it has been happening, and you have not merely been "debating my points with yours" it has gone past that.

Mining isn't exactly always exciting, and having an Enderchest doesn't prevent you from taking damage.

Show me where I've tried to draw the discussion away from the Ender Chest and haven't been responding to the statements your side has been arguing.
1) And yet you aren't protesting how easy it is to get the end game equipment.
2) show me.
3) That last choice is contradictory. And you didn't have to add on that last bit of the sentence.
4) What, delete my vote and reselect? All you have to do is reselect their answers.
5) Mining isn't exactly always exciting, and having an Enderchest doesn't prevent you from taking damage.
6) Show me where I've tried to draw the discussion away from the Ender Chest and haven't been responding to the statements your side has been arguing.
1) That is because it would be a lot harder to fix
2) I was going to, but my internet crashed, I probably will in a minute or two.
3) It is not contradictory, it is for the people who don't think it should change enough to do anything about it.
4) Reselect, without putting an answer in the third question.
5) But the ender chest will take away from the exciting experiences that people would have had.
6) I didn't say you were doing that, I said that you have been slamming me and my opinion in the proses
How about now? Do you think I covered it well, or should I add more?
My criticism was admittedly, crudely worded, and I appreciate your grace under criticism. From what I can see, the poll is now much improved over its previous incarnation, however one must still also account for the fact that many have already voted on the poll, and the results could end up being skewed because of this (making note of it could be helpful to others examining the data). Otherwise, the other bias I pointed out still applies, and while this isn't necessarily a bad poll, online polls in general are quite often incredibly poor methods of data acquisition.
I would like to apologize for the following comment, after thinking about it for some time I have concluded that I was insulting your position and calling it dumb, which I realize was an insult to you people who think this way. I am sorry.
I am rather surprised by how many people would be upset if the ender chest was made harder to use, I mean really? Really? that many people would be upset if it was to change, I was personally surprised by the amount of people who think that way.
I also apologize for the other comments that I have made that you felt were insulting, Sorry.

Yeah, I do realize that the poll probably wont do any good (even if it were trustworthy) But I will leave it up, perhaps Mojang will do something about what the people who agree with me think, but if not; Long Live Minecraft!
What? The potions you mentioned can't be compared to the ender chest. The ender chest merely expands your inventory, whilst the potions you mentioned doubled everything and lasted until you died, and also helping you kill things. The ender chest does nothing like that, saying that the ender chest is worse than the potions was a moronic statement...Your entire paragraph was just ignorant. The chests aren't OP, you're just making it seem like a huge problem. It also takes a lot of materials to make the chest, let alone two of them. And the point about the villagers some people have made, they seem to forget that you have to buy other things from them to make things like obsidian available for purchase. You mentioned that this would be an invalid argument in the paragraph i quoted, when in fact, everything you said in your paragraph was invalid.
Excuse me, thank you for your polite argument, you certainly proved me wrong with... what? Nothing?
1.you gave no reason as to why you disagree with me and jumped right to insults
2."It also takes a lot of materials to make the chest"
thanks for reading my posts. *sarcasm* Obsidian can be easily farmed from nether portals, after that you only need to kill 2 enderman and 1 blaze to craft 2 chests. IT IS EASY AS F*** TO MAKE IT.
3.I never made the argument about villagers, that's a waste of time and emeralds what with how easy it is to simply farm a nether portal or kill a mob.
4."The ender chest merely expands your inventory, whilst the potions you mentioned doubled everything and lasted until you died"
your inventory without chest: 36. Your inventory with the chest: 62.
It pretty much doubles it.
Until you die.
*Just another potion*
5.I can't even argue with any point you made because you didn't make any. You just insulted me and said I was wrong.
Obsidian takes a while to mine. Endermen are only available in sufficient quantities at the end of the game and are pretty dangerous (or, from what I've heard about the recent snapshots, deadly.)
Then you have to actually put your items into the chest regularly before you die. Then you have to mine the ender chest (takes a while) to pick it back up again. All for the convenience of not going back to the area you died, as you could have been using normal chests each time instead. Chances are you want to go back anyway to continue what you were doing (you could be using beds.) Really, the only downsides of using regular chests over ender chests is that you might lose track of one and the lack of explosion resistance (so don't use them out in the open.)
1.Obsidian taking a while to mine is a bad excuse. So what??? It's really easy to get it. That's like saying Diamond swords are overpowered because it you can mine diamonds quickly. No, what balances it isn't how long it takes to mine, but it's rarity, and obsidian is really common.
2.Try going out at night. They are common. It's actually quite easy to go out at night and stay away from any hostile mobs, you could just pick out the endermen and fight only it. Also, they aren't that dangerous, just annoying. (Depending on your difficulty~ still quite easy if you have enough food on your food bar because he keeps teleporting far away, then running at you, giving you plenty of time to heal. Besides, aren't you gonna fight Endermen at some point or another anyway? It only takes 1.
3.The only advantage Regular chests have?
OK, so what if you kept all your chests in a gigantic storage room in your house that was above ground? The Enderchest doubles your inventory space. (Shouldn't that be enough of a reason?) Anyway, it has no durability and thus is never destroyed. The items in it can never be destroyed by creepers or if you die, there are basically no drawbacks to the item itself, and it isn't hard to make at all. WHAT DRAWBACKS? THAT IF YOU DIE, YOU LOSE SOMETHING SO HARD TO MAKE? -invalid argument as previously mentioned. YOU WILL LOSE ALL YOUR ITEMS FROM DYING BECAUSE BLAH BLAH BLAH -invalid argument;it still gives you 26 free items slots. IT TAKES A LONG TIME TO MINE -invalid argument. So what if it does? Does it even matter with how much it's giving you? 26 inventory slots would make it worth it even if you replaced the obsidian with diamonds.
4."chances are you'd want to go back to what you were doing anyway"
sure, but what if your mine is too big to get there in time? And besides, that applies to the Enderchest too, so it (being "oh-so valuable") can be retrieved, and when it does, you still have that extra inventory space, you don't have to go all the way up your gigantic ladder/stairway to above ground to get to your house to put away your items.
Yes, most (probably most) of us have above-ground storage rooms, we don't want to have to go underground to get our items.
Well, even if people use it as extra inventory space I wouldn't blame them. Since Minecraft is getting more and more unique items so inventory management is getting to be fairly annoying. If people end up using the enderchests as a method to cover for their lack of skill or whatnot, then that's their problem. I'd end up using it as a linked storage between bases and the like, containing 2 buckets of water, a bucket of lava, and emergency iron tool set, and other handy materials that aren't always necessary but often useful.
Did they get a power up in one of the resent snapshots? If they did I didn't notice, but I don't find endermen enough to really notice.
Edit: Just looked at the wiki, it seems that they have received a better attack method.
I've heard that their reach is longer than a sword so you always get hit at least once per attack (this could be due to mob lag.) They teleport right next to you instead of several blocks away, giving you no time to react to their teleport.
I've heard that their reach is longer than a sword so you always get hit at least once per attack (this could be due to mob lag.) They teleport right next to you instead of several blocks away, giving you no time to react to their teleport.
hmm.
Now they're more annoying to kill.
Enderchest would still be worth it if it was made with diamonds instead of obsidian.

thanks for reading my posts. *sarcasm* Obsidian can be easily farmed from nether portals, after that you only need to kill 2 enderman and 1 blaze to craft 2 chests. IT IS EASY AS F*** TO MAKE IT.
Is this a point about balancing? Compared to the rest of the game, making an Enderchest is pretty difficult.
3.I never made the argument about villagers, that's a waste of time and emeralds what with how easy it is to simply farm a nether portal or kill a mob.

your inventory without chest: 36. Your inventory with the chest: 62.

And that's a problem? Your inventory when mining generally has a lot of cobblestone. Why shouldn't we be allowed to carry more of it if we want to?
5.I can't even argue with any point you made because you didn't make any. You just insulted me and said I was wrong.
He didn't insult. Saying something has been invalidated is not an insult.
---
I'm going to take the time to explain to your side exactly why the Enderchest is balanced.
The problem your side seems to have with the Enderchest is that it can hold more items for you as well as keep the items inside safe from harm or being lost when you die. You argue that this makes the game too easy, but I don't believe so; all it does is make the game slightly less tedious.
I'm going to use the only situation that seems to matter, spelunking.
There are a few points your side likes to use to explain how the chest is unbalanced. To the claim that the chest saves your items in the event that you die, yes, it does do that. However, you'll have to actually die to make full use of that. To clarify my point, I'm saying that the problem with this reasoning is that you're assuming you're going to die. If you prepare correctly, you shouldn't die at all. If you don't die, all the chest does is act as an extended inventory.
If you do die, then you get to keep your diamonds, but you lose everything else in your inventory as well as any experience you had. If you're playing practically, you'll have gotten a diamond pick by the point you have an Enderchest. If you haven't gotten a diamond pick, then you're trying to set up a hypothetical situation for the sake of the argument. I'm assuming you'll also have other equipment on you that you wouldn't want to lose in a hurry. Dying then has a sting and you now have a reason to go back into dangerous territory.
If you don't go back for your stuff and instead pull all the diamonds you managed to find to get yourself back up to full diamond armor, congratulations. You've just saved yourself more time away from mining more diamonds to replace your armor.
That brings me to another point. Your side loves to claim that the chest makes Minecraft less difficult, but it doesn't. It makes the game less tedious. What do you do in Minecraft to get your diamond armor? You spend several hours spelunking or mining in a straight row or trading with the villagers for it. Before the chest was added in, losing the diamonds you found wasn't what made death frustrating. It was how you wasted all that time looking for diamonds. So after dying, you'd have to spend more time looking for the diamonds you'd just lost or spend more time going back down to get your stuff. Do you get what I'm saying here?
If you have any questions about my argument, ask. I'll explain it to you a little better.
1.Obsidian taking a while to mine is a bad excuse. So what??? It's really easy to get it. That's like saying Diamond swords are overpowered because it you can mine diamonds quickly. No, what balances it isn't how long it takes to mine, but it's rarity, and obsidian is really common.

Yes, most (probably most) of us have above-ground storage rooms, we don't want to have to go underground to get our items.
1. Rarity AND mine time are both balancing mechanics. Since obsidian isn't rare it has a long mining time instead. It's a limit on the ability to obtain large amounts of a nigh-indestructible block in a short amount of time. Not difficult but a balancing mechanic nonetheless.
2. It's a matter of luck. You can travel a whole night and not see a single one. And, as I mentioned, they seem to now have increased attack range and don't give you time to react anymore.
3. I'm unclear on which specific advantage you're talking about.
What are you going on about a gigantic storage room for? I'm talking about leaving a trail of chests as you go to safeguard your items (in place of whipping out an ender chest each time.) The mining time matters because each time you want to deposit items you've got to mine it again, leaving you vulnerable to die and lose your pickaxe, experience, etc.
4. Too big to get there in time? You can move your spawn point anywhere with beds, and items in either type of chest aren't going anywhere. The only things that you've got to worry about losing are equipment, the ender chest (if you're using one and it's not placed at the time,) and your experience (which is gone no matter what.)
You don't need to keep all your items underground, just the ones you're bringing back from the current expedition. You then bring them back up with you after you're done (because you're going to be going back up with your ender chest, ect. anyway.) If you don't want to go back and retrieve stuff then that's what you're paying for by losing an ender chest.
I'm going to take the time to explain to your side exactly why the Enderchest is balanced.

actually, that's not what I think at all. Of course you rush to your death site to try and retrieve your items, I was saying that, in the event you are exploring far from your spawn point or something, etc. you die in a faraway place (or lava), you will still have the items you stored away.
No, it does not make the game easier, but it is a free upgrade. By the logic you present me, that means that having infinite inventory space is just fine. Why not? It makes the game "less tedious"~
Running out of inventory space is, more or less, part of the game, forcing you to make a decision and throw away some things or go back up to your storage, and giving the owner of an Enderchest 26 extra slots is kinda unfair.
Besides, my point still stands. It'd be worth it to make the chest even if it was made from diamonds rather than obsidian, because those 26 extra item slots are priceless

And like I said, the chest will only keep those items and nothing else. Did you manage to find three diamonds? Great, put it in the chest. Fall into lava? Shame about that full set of iron armor you lost, but hey. You still get the three diamonds.
Running out of inventory space is, more or less, part of the game, forcing you to make a decision and throw away some things or go back up to your storage,
Yes, those game changing decisions like if you should trade a stack of cobblestone for some lapis lazuli. You know I died specifically because I threw away one stack of cobblestone.
and giving the owner of an Enderchest 26 extra slots is kinda unfair.
Compared to what? Having free ability to remove any enemy from the game? Or being able to fly and have infinite resources without fear of damage? What about having enchanted equipment and potions that allow you to swim in lava without taking damage? Is it unfair compared to those?
You took two words out of all of that. That's not "jumping to insults".
And like I said, the chest will only keep those items and nothing else. Did you manage to find three diamonds? Great, put it in the chest. Fall into lava? Shame about that full set of iron armor you lost, but hey. You still get the three diamonds.
Infinite inventory space isn't the same as an extra 26 slots. And in any case, having infinite inventory space is already in the game.
Yes, those game changing decisions like if you should trade a stack of cobblestone for some lapis lazuli. You know I died specifically because I threw away one stack of cobblestone.

remove any enemy from the game/already have infinite items:
wat.
do not count mods, because many of them are obviously imbalanced.
game changing decisions:
except you have to make them several times, you end up leaving behind a large amount of items, which will disappear...
fly/no damage/infinite items:
that's creative mode. It has nothing to do with survival mode.
swim in lava:
they are costly and impractical for frequent use. When using a potion to swim in lava, you are usually just travelling, so there's no trade off, and it doesn't really matter anyway since you could just go around the lava by building, those potions are a waste of resources, and besides, you aren't using them in case you fall into lava, you're using them when you are going to swim in lava.
26 isn't the same as infinite:
but you were the one who said it doesn't matter as long as it only makes the game less tedious, right?
"but infinite eliminates having too many items while +26 doesn't"
then why not make it +10000?
saving diamonds:
you should keep your most valuable 26 items in the box, with the exception of whatever is in use. That's most of your inventory. You don't just save 3 diamonds, you also save 64 lapis lazuli, 192 redstone, 256 iron ores, 32 gunpowder, 32 bones, 448 coal, a bucket of lava, 16 slimeballs, 8 ender-pearls, 64 obsidian, a diamond pickaxe, (either a back-up, or you never use it except for obsidian) a silk touched shining redstone block (it's a special block that shines)[block 74] shears, and 128 sheared leaf blocks
I have huge lava lake underground in my world.
I use these potion to locate diamonds in these lake.
You'd be surprised how much diamonds you can find while doing this.
swim in lava:
they are costly and impractical for frequent use. Just like how the chest is impractical for frequent use. You're only going to use it to expand your inventory in the end.
but you were the one who said it doesn't matter as long as it only makes the game less tedious, right?
You're taking this out of context; my original point was that the game is overtly tedious because you lose so much time when you're looking for diamonds and you die. If you play smart, you can get around having a small inventory.
you should keep your most valuable 26 items in the box, with the exception of whatever is in use. That's most of your inventory. Okay, what? You didn't seem to get my point. My point was that you lose all of your inventory except for the chest. Like you said, most of the items in use will be in your inventory, and you probably wouldn't want to lose those. I think you just put all of those extra things in to make your post seem longer.
I would really like to fix your post because it's extremely disjointed and organized. And please, provide clearer context to what you're responding to.
When you judge a feature (like in this case, the enderchest) you take into account all the modes and possibilities in this game right? (aka: Full minecraft not just survival mode.)
When you judge a feature (like in this case, the enderchest) you take into account all the modes and possibilities in this game right? (aka: Full minecraft not just survival mode.)
Not sure what your point is, but yes, I suppose I do.
Creative mode, cheats, and peaceful mode. creative mode (see below) cheats are cheats, what, was that supposed to have a point? Peaceful mode isn't really like survival, it's more like enjoying hoarding without monsters.
Yeah. That cobblestone is just so hard to find, right?
you give up 64 sets of cobblestone blocks? That wastes a lot.
Which you can still access with cheats.
you can cheat any game, doesn't mean the non-cheated game should be imbalanced
Just like how the chest is impractical for frequent use. You're only going to use it to expand your inventory in the end.
it is practical for frequent use. In fact, it's one of those items you never leave home without.
You're taking this out of context; my original point was that the game is overtly tedious because you lose so much time when you're looking for diamonds and you die. If you play smart, you can get around having a small inventory.
then why are you supporting not having to play smart?
Now you're just putting words in my mouth.
just accounting for Frequently retarted arguments; I don't want to waste time, so I may answer a predictable hypothetical question. (Not to say that you would have necessarily made them)
Okay, what? You didn't seem to get my point. My point was that you lose all of your inventory except for the chest. Like you said, most of the items in use will be in your inventory, and you probably wouldn't want to lose those. I think you just put all of those extra things in to make your post seem longer.
incorrect. And by "items in use", the items I would have in a normal circumstance that weren't in my enderchest would only be an rock pickaxe for everything, an iron pickaxe for ores, cobblestone, a crafting chest, a furnace, random sticks/wooden planks/wood, random ores maybe, and I'd only take out my Diamond pickaxe for obsidian. I don't even use armor since they save you damage that a full hunger bar could've healed you anyway.
I would really like to fix your post because it's extremely disjointed and organized. And please, provide clearer context to what you're responding to.
maybe, but that's because we're having so many different arguments about so many different aspects of the Enderchest. Let's stick with one thing at a time and start with this; what you seem to be avoiding:
It'd still be worth it to make the Enderchest out of diamonds instead of obsidian because those 26 item slots are priceless.
And yet you aren't protesting how easy it is to get the end game equipment.
Show me.
That last choice is contradictory. And you didn't have to add on that last bit of the sentence.
What, delete my vote and reselect? All you have to do is reselect their answers.
Mining isn't exactly always exciting, and having an Enderchest doesn't prevent you from taking damage.
I'm not going to be sidetracked by the analogy. My point is that you're taking away a feature that hasn't caused a large uprising of complaints.
I wasn't replying to you.
Show me.
Show me where I've tried to draw the discussion away from the Ender Chest and haven't been responding to the statements your side has been arguing.
Mostly moved on. May check back a few times a year.
hmm.
Now they're more annoying to kill.
Enderchest would still be worth it if it was made with diamonds instead of obsidian.
Are you kidding me? He didn't insult you at all.
Is this a point about balancing? Compared to the rest of the game, making an Enderchest is pretty difficult.
It's a different way to play the game.
And that's a problem? Your inventory when mining generally has a lot of cobblestone. Why shouldn't we be allowed to carry more of it if we want to?
Mostly moved on. May check back a few times a year.
I take insult.
actually, that's not what I think at all.
Compared to what? Having free ability to remove any enemy from the game? Or being able to fly and have infinite resources without fear of damage? What about having enchanted equipment and potions that allow you to swim in lava without taking damage? Is it unfair compared to those?
remove any enemy from the game/already have infinite items:
wat.
do not count mods, because many of them are obviously imbalanced.
game changing decisions:
except you have to make them several times, you end up leaving behind a large amount of items, which will disappear...
fly/no damage/infinite items:
that's creative mode.
Anything you'd like to fix?
I have huge lava lake underground in my world.
I use these potion to locate diamonds in these lake.
You'd be surprised how much diamonds you can find while doing this.
Creative mode, cheats, and peaceful mode.
Yeah. That cobblestone is just so hard to find, right?
Which you can still access with cheats.
Just like how the chest is impractical for frequent use. You're only going to use it to expand your inventory in the end.
You're taking this out of context; my original point was that the game is overtly tedious because you lose so much time when you're looking for diamonds and you die. If you play smart, you can get around having a small inventory.
Now you're just putting words in my mouth.
I'm not disagreeing I'm just asking a question.
When you judge a feature (like in this case, the enderchest) you take into account all the modes and possibilities in this game right? (aka: Full minecraft not just survival mode.)
Not sure what your point is, but yes, I suppose I do.
I just wanted to be sure.
maybe, but that's because we're having so many different arguments about so many different aspects of the Enderchest. Let's stick with one thing at a time and start with this; what you seem to be avoiding:
It'd still be worth it to make the Enderchest out of diamonds instead of obsidian because those 26 item slots are priceless.
