Because of the amount of arguing that has been done about how the ender chest is overpowered, I have started this thread to ask how it might be improved. I have a few options on the poll now, but if you have an idea about what should be done please post it and I will add it to the poll

Also: if you think that it should be changed you may feel free to post why you think it should be changed (Note: don't just say that it is overpowered, tell me why you think that way), and I will add it to this post, example (I am not saying that I think this way):
1. I think that they should be made harder to pick up so that they aren't used just as an extension of the inventory by putting them down whenever I want an item that is in it, and then just harvesting it right away.
2. I think that they should be made so that we need two of them to do anything, because I think that they are a little to easy to get.
3. I think that you shouldn't be able to pick them up because: Now you can go mine and carry an ender chest with you. After every ore you mine, you can just place the ender chest down, place the ores in it, pick the chest back up and continue mining. You can just stay mining forever with absolutely no danger of hostile mobs. If ender chests could not be picked back up, you could still take a lot with you and do the same thing, but at least you'd be "consuming" ender chests in the process and not using the same one for infinite times.
Also note: I added some things to the poll, so if you could delete your vote and re-vote (unless you wouldn't change what you said) that would be nice
I personally like the single player versions of ender chests are fine but I think there should be a feature in smp were you can list different chests so you can send different things to different players, but that would mean you have to name your chest

That sounds like it could get a bit complicated...
I'm not sure what they should be like in multiplayer. A server-wide ender chest would be cool. However, there's a good chance no one would use it. People would likely put in stuff they don't want (dirt, etc.), then nobody would remove it. See what I'm saying?
Make it so that it is user specific... otherwise in SMP I would just sit there and wait for people to put diamonds in their chest and ninja them like a greedy little boy xD.

The problem is, you're making a mountain out of a molehill and vastly over-exaggerating what the Ender Chest will do to Minecraft.
It's far, far from a serious issue.

I believe that you shouldn't be able to pick the chest up once you place it, so you'll have to craft a chest for every base you have, and not just always carry the same one with you.
In the same vein, let's make redstone something that can't be picked up so that it's much harder to make a base that defends itself from mobs.
And we'll also get rid of the ability for people to pick up lava. They won't need it.
Accidentally voted for "Make them user spasific, but only under certain circumstances"(specific is spelled wrong btw). They should be open to everyone in MP.

But they do need the option to turn on/off private storage.

As for multiplayer, I'm conflicted, but I think that ultimately it's better that it's a public chest.
