Seriously. EVERYTHING they add makes the game too easy for some people. The game has become MUCH easier since Alpha and even Beta. Problem? Sucks.

Cost? what cost? to make an transport system you must use alot of redstone, rails, powered rails, logic gates ect. and now? place an magican chest...
You realize that by the time you even get to make the chest, you've got to have gone to the nether, collected diamonds, and collected Enderpearls, right? And not everyone uses redstone and rails. I certainly didn't.
As I've said before. You cannot compare minor things like item transportation to core elements of a game. Did you not even read my posts yesterday? You're argument about the sword is complete BS.
It would be acceptable in a game like Call of Duty or Battlefield. Or even an MMORPG or something. This is Minecraft. Minecraft is a special case.
If you can't accept this then maybe you should just stop playing because the game clearly isn't becoming what you want it to become.
No, No the HELL it would not be. This has nothing to do with what the game is becoming, where it is going. This is a gameplay balance of value issue.
So you're telling me if they put a overpowered item into Battlefield/COD/any other game/ that, everyone would be completely fine with it? That sounds like what you are telling me.
The sword is a larger issue in scale, but the concept is the same.
Players once had to use skill and think to move large quantities of stuff, now you basically don't have too. You always needed to double check your supplies before you left your base. You had to be careful.
The ender chest HAS the ability to ruin all of that, since if you can just plop it down anywhere, you don't need to be as careful or put as much effort into it.
It will only be somewhat balanced, if it cannot be picked back up. Similar to the enchantment table.
You view it as small and insignificant, but THAT is another problem. Lots of "Small" things make players lazy over time as they get used to it.
I'm not saying trash the box and the whole concept, it just needs to be balanced. WIth that said... actually. Limiting it to ONLY items and not materials (like cobblestone, bricks ect) sounds about right. It will carry things like tools, armor, food, potions, ect. And also make it not able to be picked up.
That makes it useful, but also requires you to still use trains to move building materials.
That's just an idea, but I hope Jeb has something better and more balanced in mind. The "easier" things become over time, little by little, the value of satisfaction slowly goes down.

That would be a ridiculous idea for an item that is perfectly fine as it is right now.
So how many people who are anti-Enderchest have fit in insults in their comments directed towards everyone who likes the chests?
So far must of us are cheaters with impaired mental and social skills. Did I miss anything?
In my experience if you have to resort to insults directed at another group in order to make your argument then there is obviously some serious flaw in your argument.

Agreed (except redstone and rails. I rock the redstone & rails).
More specifically... you'd have dug deep enough to get diamonds to make a diamond pick, gotten enough obsidian to make the portal and the boxes, gone to the nether, found a nether fortress, found a blaze or three, come back, found some endermen, managed to kill them, gotten ender pearls, and finally... crafted the chests. You've got to have the gear built up to take on a nether fortress and endermen There's some legit effort to get this sort of item. There's less effort made to get infinite arrows.
Your over-exaggeration is the problem with this forum. EVERY update people just like you come up with wild reasons why certain features will inevitably break the game. Beds, animal farming, alchemy, etc. have ALL been thoroughly hated by users, just like you, because they'd "break the game". Ender Chests will change the game, but they certainly won't "break it". Can you choose not to use them? Of course. They don't have to affect you at all. You just hate the thought of it being easier for other players, which makes zero sense. The chest will require quite some amount of gameplay to achieve anyway. By then it's just a convenience to help you progress more efficiently through the game. Hell there were mods that did this that ANYONE could access.
Your argument just seems entirely pointless and misguided. It's like you just want to argue for the sake of arguing. It's a game. This isn't the end of the world.

People want new features that don't change the game. They want more challenges without making the game easiewr or hareder. They want more rewards without adding anything new to the game. They want to enjoy their gameplay, and make sure you enjoy your gameplay, so long as they approve of how you enjoy your gameplay. They want bugs fixed, as long as they don't fix the bugs that they like using for their own benefit. In short, people don't know what the hell they want.
I don't see the problem here. Sure, the chest makes things easier. A little. Instead of having to create a railway system or run back and forth between your house, the ender chest makes that all easier so you can skip all of that tedious work. I don't see how it is overpowered, but that is a personal opinion.
What I'm trying to say is, you don't have to use it if you don't want to. This is not a hard concept. If you want to use the chest, but so it's not so easy, that's not hard either. Instead of forcing Jeb to make chests disappear when you break them, you can, you know, throw away the chest yourself after you pick it up. What's the difference?
Stop being obnoxious and trying to ruin the game for other people. Not everyone likes the game to be as "difficult" (even though minecraft is quite easy...) as you do. The fact that someone, somewhere out there, is using an item that might make the game easier shouldn't ruin the game for you.
I also find it rather funny that I'm being called mentally retarted by someone who can't even use good grammar in a single sentance, and insults everyone who disagrees with him rather than actually explaining to us how this is an issue. Very few people have actually done that so far.
That is not the point, what so ever at all. What the hell is wrong with you? This has NOTHING to do with how "I like it". It's a general issue with balance that effects all of us over the entire game. Me not using it doesn't change what it does to the game as a whole, and that is the point.
Some of you are going insane and raging over the fact that others see a balance issue, not a personal issue, and now you are trying to blast them to bits by stating how they are incorrect, and you are right.

I'm not reading anymore posts past the other person's reply to you're insanely retarded post) be able to finally get through to you how ignorant you and the people that have agreed with you on this are.
Edit: I'm not sure what the hell's wrong with this post. The OP will refuse to read it properly just like my other posts that would have ended this. So I don't care
Edit2: Actually. If the OP is just trolling then he wins. I'll be man enough to admit it. Someone on the internet will have finally been able to act stupid enough for long enough to actually frustrate me. Kudos to you if you were trolling.
It's a general issue with balance that effects all of us over the entire game. Me not using it doesn't change what it does to the game as a whole, and that is the point.
No, it's not a balance issue.
At all.
All it does is make it so that you can carry more items at a time and actually have a safe place to store important goods once in a while.
You are making a mountain out of a molehill.
It's not a serious balance issue at all. It's not even comparable to things you've used in your arguments throughout the thread.
Take a step back and stop looking for the negatives because there are very few.

You're quite right. I didn't realize how important a portable chest was to my single player experience.
That has not, nor will it EVER be an acceptable excuse for game-play elements. Because, whether I use it or not doesn't change the fact that it affects the game as a whole. THAT is the main issue here.
And of course you are right again. In fact, I think that we shouldn't just get rid of the chests alone, let's get rid of more things that take away from gameplay. We should get rid of trading with villages. That takes away all the effort of mining, never mind gameplay preferences.
Hell let's just make a pick that instantly takes you to bed rock with one click. Removes all the tedious work of mining. Just make super costly, because that merits it.
Same idea.
Right again. Let's not add that and take away from the player the ability to mine in a diagonal line upwards to get to the surface so they don't have to backtrack through a that huge cave system they just went through. The loss of pick durability is too small a cost. If we keep it in we should force the player to take damage every time they do it so they aren't encouraged to do just that.
On the same vein, let's remove the ability to pillar. They should make a spiral staircase every time they want to ascend because vertical mobility shouldn't be that simple.
Madness. Complete Madness
Pot, Kettle, Black. Seriously, dude. If it's a balance issue, HOW IS IT A BALANCE ISSUE IN SINGLE PLAYER IF YOU DO NOT USE IT? If I use it how does that ruin the game balance, in Single Player? How does it ruin the balance any more than the hundreds of mods out there, the cheating by going to peaceful mode and back, and other tricks that others do in their own worlds? Most importantly How does that affect you, and your own gameplay?
You're flipping out why, exactly? Because other people will not have earned their Minecraft fun, in your eyes? It's a bit childish, and it's not in this thread only (see "STOP MAKING THINGS EASIER" in the thread about the changes to Enchantments).
You're now arguing just to keep from having to look at it from a point of view other than the one provded by your own opinion on how everyone SHOULD play the game. That's the difference between you and the others who disagree with you. We've looked at it and said "Well, it won't unbalance multiplayer because it's a shared chest, and no one will use it. It won't unbalance single player because how it is used and when it is used and IF it is used is up to the individual player." That's it. The individual player....who, by the way, you have no say in their gameplay, or control over it. You've gone with "I don't like it! It will unbalance the game by making some things easier/less tedious! It's the equivalent of giving out a 1000 HP damage sword!" and so on.
Also the pick is not even the same idea. Please try to compare apples to apples, not apples to airplanes.
That is not the point, what so ever at all. What the hell is wrong with you? This has NOTHING to do with how "I like it". It's a general issue with balance that effects all of us over the entire game. Me not using it doesn't change what it does to the game as a whole, and that is the point.

Look, you've been repeating the exact same arguement for pages, and as of yet, you haven't given any evidence to support it nor have you gone into any detail about how exactly it "unbalances" the game. I'd like to know how this unbalances the game, and why you even care about the game being unbalanced. You are holding on to a belief without any bit of reasoning behind it. Just because you like the mindless tedium involved in the game does not mean that everyone should, and that the game having mindless tedium is "balanced". This "balance" you are talking about is highly subjective.
That has not, nor will it EVER be an acceptable excuse for game-play elements. Because, whether I use it or not doesn't change the fact that it affects the game as a whole. THAT is the main issue here.

I'd like to say that that argument is very much valid. We don't need you or anybody to barge in here like a messaiah and tell us all how we should and shouldn't play the game.
You're right. Having this in the game does change the game as a whole. But the way this change is recieved affects each person differently. The fact that it affects you in a negative way does not mean that Jeb needs to remove it. You can simply not use it if it bothers you. Or can you just not stand that the game might actually be easy for someone else? What if I want to have a pick like that? You wouldn't have to use it; obviously you feel strongly enough about this subject that you wouldn't be tempted or anything. Stop being so superficial about the game.
The most unlikely person, can be the greatest of them all. For all you know, someone who cannot spell worth a **** might actually be a ****ing genius. Yet you judge him on spelling without knowing anything else about him? Maybe English isn't his native language, you have no grounds to judge him over that.
I wasn't actually judging him on his language; I was judging him based on the fact that he called everyone who didn't agree with him wholeheartedly mentally retarted, and didn't even give a single reason for why he thinks this is an issue.
Again, that is the most unintelligent argument used on these forums. Under your logic, it would be ok to have an easy to make weapon that does 1000 damage because you can just tell people "Don't use it"
Seriously people, this is a big issue
No, it isn't, because this game isn't competitive. The only competitive aspect are pvp SMP servers, and an admin could just as easily disable them if they so desire. I agree with the above guy, don't like it? Dont use it.
Let's say Mojang suddenly adds a backpack which adds another 3 rows to your inventory. The backpack requires materials that you can't get in the first hour of gameplay but which are easy to get after that. Also, if you die you get to keep the entire backpack inventory. New items are automatically put into the "safe" backpack region of your inventory until it is full. This means that death carries little significance anymore, as even if your items disappear you only lose the backpack, items in your hotbar, and the less valuable half of your inventory if it happens to be overloaded.
This backpack is basically what the enderchest is. The only difference is that it is more convenient. The funny thing is, a lot of the pro-chest people are saying that convenience is good, but pretty much all of them claim that the chest as implemented is perfect. If convenience is so awesome, why wouldn't you want it to be implemented as this backpack instead?
The reason is simple: the backpack is obviously overpowered. With the chest, you get to claim ignorance to the fact that it works like a backpack and insult people for supposedly wanting to make it harder to link your bases. This is evidenced by several pages of people asking "How is it overpowered", giving new readers the impression that there is no opposing argument.
There will always be arguments between those who understand what a game is and those who do not. I know that a game becomes fun by creating challenges that the player figures out how to overcome in the easiest way. Others will just say "Games are supposed to be fun" over and over to justify adding "fun" things that actually remove challenges.
One final note: the way this works in multiplayer is terrible. It effectively operates under different rules in singleplayer and multiplayer. In singleplayer, the chest works as a backpack and a shared storage network between bases, but in multiplayer its only real use is to quickly send items to a friend. I thought singleplayer and multiplayer were supposed to be coming closer together.
Let's say Mojang suddenly adds a backpack which adds another 3 rows to your inventory. The backpack requires materials that you can't get in the first hour of gameplay but which are easy to get after that. Also, if you die you get to keep the entire backpack inventory. Hey, I wouldn't mind. Go ahead and add it. You are absolutely correct in your statement. I'm glad to know the option is there if I ever want to mess around with it, overpowered as it is.

And there's still no argument to what you're saying. It's not overpowered because it's hard to get. Giving it to you off the bat is entirely different.

Games are supposed to be fun, and the chest is only a reward that you get for completing a challenge.

I would rather teach a monkey how to use the internet then have to try to explain to you why this Enderchest isn't OP anymore. I can only hope someone else will(or has..

And of course you are right again. In fact, I think that we shouldn't just get rid of the chests alone, let's get rid of more things that take away from gameplay. We should get rid of trading with villages. That takes away all the effort of mining, never mind gameplay preferences.
I wasn't actually judging him on his language; I was judging him based on the fact that he called everyone who didn't agree with him wholeheartedly mentally retarted, and didn't even give a single reason for why he thinks this is an issue.
No, it isn't, because this game isn't competitive. The only competitive aspect are pvp SMP servers, and an admin could just as easily disable them if they so desire. I agree with the above guy, don't like it? Dont use it.
What I always love about forums are those that act snobby and pretentious over something so mundane.
Games are supposed to be fun, and the chest is only a reward that you get for completing a challenge.
It's not overpowered.
Challenges are subjective
Fun is subjective
I know about games, too.
